City Vs Borussia Dortmund (CL) Post Match Thread

Well there is no huge surprises about this result for me, the performance was a little bit unexpected.
Mancini in domestic league/cups and Mancini in Europe these are two totally different things. In Europe he is always failing and it is a bit luckier if happens against a clearly stronger team than if it happens against teams like Napoli/Dortmund whose squads are nowhere near in skills/prices/wages etc.

Mancini still can do well in PL that is a different story very much. Long term works better, stronger squad gets better results over longer term and I think City's squad is better than any of our rivals...

But in Europe he has a tendency to do not so well. We can say things we need more experience as a team, more time, more players, world class players.
Also better mentality, lot more pace in our attacks, better defensive workrate from all of our players, better passing, working tactics against specific opponents etc...
The things we saw from Napoli last year or Dortmund this year.

Mancini is getting closer to tha exact situation he was at Inter. He has to win the league once again for that.
Winning the league but failing in Europe big time. Big difference Inter that time did not have as strong rivals in the league like United or Chelsea now. Also never failed at group stages only around March in the quarter finals.
Here he could fail already in groups two times in a row.

Actually I'm optimist we will win the league as we won it last year we know exactly how big fight is that and Mancini also knows how to win the league.
In CL I'm pessimistic Madrid dominated us could lose that match much earlier with a few goals, tonight Dortmund could win by 2-3 goals again.

Last year we had a very underperforming Villarreal (they relegated from Primera Divison!) this time we have an Ajax which wont be easier. And also the fact that last year in the last round that was a Bayern B team they didnt need any point from that match as they was already first placed no matter of other matches.
Even if Real plays a B team at the Etihad it would a be a hard match to win. Modric, Kaka, Higuain etc...
Last match they started with 3 defensive minded midfielders and we got dominated very hardly.

So the chance of going trough is even less than it was last year. -but there is a chance thanks to this late Balotelli pen, this helped a lot because it would be 0 points for City, 6 for Dortmund.

still pisses me off that top top teams play crap and get dominated in games and still somehow grind out a win when necessary, (rags), we are not at that level and are grinding out draws. The difference is the conversion ratio. They get two chances per game and score one of them, we get ten chances per game and score one of them. That's the problem imho.

Lucky to get a point like everyone is saying. We looked dreadful in the second half and maybe most worrying is Yaya's performance. Not sure if he's just tired/had a bad game or if it was Dortmund closing us down in the midfield. Silva had some flashes of the Silva of old, but still no consistency. Nasri came out and got a quick shot, but was ordinary after. Sometimes holds the ball too long, which can help in possession, but can hurt at times. And this doesn't need to be said, but i'm saying it anyway, Hart was brilliant! I'm not worrying yet. I usually don't start worrying as fast as some blues on here. We can still advance, it will just take some improving to say the least.
You have to credit the intensity in the German game

But all the same we had plenty of chances of our own before they scored. If we had taken one, I think we would have taken charge just like they did

Players should thank Joe Hart. He has kept us in the Champions League

Where can I see distance covered stats?

Game in stats:
Company: 86 passes; 90%(the most) completed, 28 to Nastasic and 11 to Yaya .. NONE to Silva
Nastasic: 100 passes(the most), 19 to Company and 16 to Yaya, only 2 to Silva
Silva: had ONLY 44 passes ( 77% PC)and Yaya had 95 passes( 79% PC)
Dzeko received only 19 passes, none from Aguero though, who had 30 passes in total of which ONLY 43 % completed

OK, Got distance covered stats:
Dortmund: Subotic covered 10,114 metres(the lowest); all others covered more then 11,000 while Sven Bender covered 13,097
City: No one covered 11,000 or more ; Clichy covered 9,218 ( the lowest) followed by Aguero"s 9,800 m. Silva covered 10,8008 ( the highest)
Clichy didnt play for last 10 minutes though.
It isn't hard to figure out that Dortmund in total probably covered 15,000+ meters more

Just proves my point that they were physically much better team.

Never mind the result. We're enjoying to play this beautiful game - and we will continue to do so. #echteliebe #ucl #mcfcbvb

Pure class. Despite that cock of a CEO who ran us down, they are a great club.

You have to hand it to them. Tactically they were brilliant. They pressed high up the pitch and swarmed all over us every time we were in possession. We were put under so much pressure we couldn't build up any pressure of our own.

They are a top side and I wouldn't bet against them taking points off Real Madrid as well.
