You have to hand it to them. Tactically they were brilliant. They pressed high up the pitch and swarmed all over us every time we were in possession. We were under so much pressure we couldn't build up any pressure.

They are a top side and I wouldn't bet against them taking points off Real Madrid as well.
Correct. But I wouldn't bet against City beating them in Dortmund either

They take a lot of risks. As you say tactically they were spot on. They swarmed all over us in midfield, and made it very difficult for us to play through the midfield. Some of the passing movements under great pressure were great to watch. I think it frustrated the City players as much as it did the watching fans.

Yaya Toure gave away a stupid yellow card. I think Kompany is suspended too as he got a 2nd yellow

That's the way they play naturally and we would have ( should have) known that and come up with a way to deal with the high pressing game. But it seems we didn't have a plan to deal with it! Key players for us (Nasri and Silva) couldnt get into the game and Yaya was involved far far too deep to do anything to hurt them.

Clichy was injured for a good ten mins before he came off. looked like a muscle injury of some sort but I didn't see him happen just saw him struggling with it. He will not play on Saturday. I agree Yaya was struggling at times as well.

If he was I am not sure why he stayed on for that long risking further aggrevation.

In anycase like most of the side he was well below his best for the time he was injury free.

Again despite the scoreline it was one of the worst home efforts for some time.

I cannot remember the last time an opposition had so many clear cut chances against us and completely dominated the areas of the pitch that matter.
I can not remember the last time we played the Champions of one of the top European Leagues. But I do remember that we also created a lot of chances, probably more chances tonight than in all our home Premiership games this season put together.

Yes they were better, but they were also significantly better than the normal teams they were playing, and they were playing at 100% like a Derby

These are important points and if you don't recognise the opposition and how well they played, any valid points you have go out of the window

I really do think you are overrating Dortmund's performance and not focusing enough on the fact that our midfield and defense were so out of sorts especially in the second half that we made it so easy for them to play through us and penetrate us without resistance of any kind.

Lets admit it , we were poor , Mancini again made poor choices in formation and lineups and substitutions and we have to acknowledge that we are nowhere near reaching the level of performance we were at this time last season.

If it continues for too much longer we might have strenghten considerably in January which really we shouldn't have to IMO to get something out of this season.

If I was betting on the group already I would put good money on us not getting through and in saying that I don't think Dortmund will set the world on fire in the competition either like they didn't last year either.

Just held my ticket stub upto the light from tonights game and there is a watermark of Platini handing a suitcase of dosh to Blatter.

Completely outclassed, I haven't been this impressed with an opponent since Napoli last season. So many reminders of that game in there today, except in a lot of ways Dortmund were better ... not defending deep and countering, just stood up to us in the midfield, took the ball, and ran away. I have no idea how we drew that, it was completely undeserved. For all the ire pointed at Mancini, i don't think it's about formation or tactics, but it may be about preparation. I've never seen our side so unsure of where the passes were even supposed to be, we looked completely unprepared for them to press the ball in that formation. Truth is I don't know that we have the players to counter what they brought, they simply seemed to be better.

That said, both goals were gifts and both keepers were class. On another night we may bury one of those early chances and the game is entirely different. Nonetheless, our inability to get a handle on that game was worrisome, to say the least. And big credit to Dortmund, that was a hell of a performance.
yup ^

Having battled the elements and a massive queue on the M62 to get there on my motorbike, I arrived home, had a beer and a ciggy, and asked myself was it worth it?

Yes.

1. We got an undeserved point
2. Barry is still getting back
3. We can only get better
4. The heated grips worked a treat
