City vs Burnley Post Match Thread

To be honest I saw this coming. The 2nd half against WBA was a perfect indicator that our defence was starting to fall apart again. Twice I spotted Mangala out of position in that game and but for WBA's poor finishing we would have been in serious grief.

Fast forward to today and the lessons were obviously not learned from 2 days earlier. Again Mangala was caught out of position on 3 occasions, but this time it was him covering Kolorov whilst Kolorov wheezed his way back into position.

Taking nothing away from Burnley, they came to fight and not just to sit back and take it up the shitter from us. The crucial mistakes we made were with the first substitution. I would have taken off Silva who strangely kept giving the ball away and put Nasri behind Jovetic and put Milner on the left.

Burnley were all graft and endeavour and I felt uneasy when Milner was taken off because we badly needed his energy. I even commented to my mate that we might live to regret taking Milner off and so it proved because whilst we had all the skill and guile on show, we didn't seem to have the work rate to make it count against Burnley.

We missed a vital opportunity today and even though Burnley's first goal was off side, I think we got what our performance deserved. I'm just fucking gutted.

Some of you need to give your fannies a wipe.

I think a far better expression is, "show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser".

There's nothing wrong with being right royally fucked off, it's what winners do.

you win with humility and lose with dignity , and as a 3rd generation blue , no one can teach me anything about dignity

The only crumb of comfort I can take from this game is non of the current top 4 took maximum points from their two festive games.

Now that I've stopped being cross, well played Burnley. You got what you deserved.

since Sergio went off against Everton 'that game included' we have taken 13 points from a possible 15 and reduced Chelsea's lead to 3 points putting the title back in our own hands also an away win in Rome chucked in aswell when that competition had been written off by most of us, i would have snatched your hand off for that when we got the bad news about Aguero

booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

What makes people think all the bad decisions that go against us have no bearing on the game and the final result?

I agree we were woeful in the second half but so was the referee and linesman and it's not "embarrassing" to call them out on it.

I'm sick to death of the shit calls we get!

We have the most possession and still always have more yellows and give more free kicks away,it's bullshit!

Absolutely spot on mate.

I could womble on about Boyd's goal being a mile offside. But hey even with a calamitous mistake by the linemen like that we should still have won.

Quite simply we didn't want it enough. Burnley did. That was our problem
Well played to Burnley - great performance.

Titles are won by how well you play against teams in the lower half of the league. By that 2nd half performance today I can state that the title is Chelsea's to lose with the remaining fixtures - even though we remain just 3 points behind.

How we recover from this performance is all that matters.

It does highlight the fact you need depth and quality in all positions as losing the likes of yaya , kompany and kun for any length of time tests your resources.

Given a good run of injuries this will mean some players will be unhappy because they won't get as much game time as they think they should but I would rather have that problem than having your spine out injured.

I think we will address that situation in the summer as we need to keep constantly improving our squad.

4 strikers , 10 midfielders , 10 defenders all proven winners and hungry for more success is what we have to achieve.

This will mean some of our current crop will have to move on in the summer.

did you chuck the title in the bin 'city 3 Sunderland 3? titles are won over 38 performances not just how well you play against the lower teams, there will always be shocks, surprise results or rogue results call them what you like it happened to Chelsea at Newcastle and Sunderland and it will happen again before the end of the season, that's what makes the premiership what it is 'sometimes unpredictable'
