We have played in 3 prem games and Dzeko has scored in 2..

How anyone can say what they do about him is just mind boggling. hes on for 20+ goals at this rate.

So by your logic, as long as a striker scores then he had a good game?

I said he scored a goal,I never said Dzeko had a good game..

Silva's fine. He was just starting to get into the match, and looking comfortable. Probably just frustrated. I get frustrated 246 times a day. Non issue.
Is that figure an average or is it literally the same every day?
You must swear a lot!

I think we're just starting to gel and obviously the team is still coming from a high from last season. Tough to match that so a bit of negatives is expected. I rate the players as follows.

Tevez...9/10...Worked his ass off on both ends and made quite a few terrific plays, setting up Dzeko's goal and bailing him out by deflecting it in for a well deserved goal.

Dzeko...8/10...The only part i didn't like was his lack of energy to work as hard as Tevez in pressuring their d. Other then that he had 2 great headers in the first half that just missed, was open for quite a few chances but never got the ball. Made at most 2 bad plays although i only remember 1 bad pass.

Silva....7/10....One amazing play with him and Zaba where it went off the bar and out. Other then that i found he wasn't using his real strength out there (making plays). On the breakaway chance he had a man free (Tevez i think it was) he decided to take a weak shot(what else is new?) and he held on way too long to take that shot (the defender basically caught up to him)..We need him to start using his vision like he's done in the past.

Nasri...8/10...Overall Nasri is always consistent IMO. Sometimes he shows flashes of brilliant play but today it was a bit lower but still quite good. Distribution was good but there wasn't much in terms of taking it aggressively to the net.

Rodwell...8.5/10...I was amazed at how good he is at seeing plays develop and being aggressive to take away potential counters. Even more when he gets the ball and moves it up the field(he's got some good skill as well). He'll get even better i'm sure of it.

Yaya...8.5/10...Did a great job shutting things down and at the same time jumping up and distributing the ball well. Got a nice goal too. Not very often can you say that Yaya is having a bad game so this was no different.

Kolarov...6/10...Made 1 or 2 plays that were decent but found it irritating that he can't make the obvious play happen and just not enough speed to help out defensively(which is why he's always holding/hooking and so on).

Zaba...7.5/10....I like the fact he's strong on the defensive end and knows when to jump up on the play. Sometimes looks out of position and isn't that quick but overall smart player and consistently plays well.

Kompany...7/10...Few instances where he could have made things easier for himself(needs to be more aggressive at times) but compared to that Southampton game he did better. QPR didn't have much in terms of chances so hard to say something for our back end..

Lescott....7/10...I didn't notice him much out there which is normal as QPR didn't get much going offensively. He's solid positional player but gets in trouble when trying to handle the ball longer than he should.

The one thing that stood out for me they need to pick up the training, we don't look up to full speed and we're short on fitness.

We're controlling the pace of the game for long periods and have the majority of possession yet it's us that looks tired as the game goes on.

The big plus today was that it showed Rodwell has a big future if he keeps listening and learns

seems convenient for you to emphasize my saying how you don't like dzeko and completely ignoring the fact that your Inzaghi comment was as stupid as it can get, which was the point I was mostly referring to...

Because it was daft. Inzaghi will never go down as "one of the greats". Ask 10 people to name the 50 greatest strikers ever and he'll be maybe 2 lists. That's the point, people thought Inzaghi was great until they watched him. In reality, he had good movement to find good positions but his finishing was poor. He needed several chances to score, every single game. He was not a man you could rely on to bury the ball in the one chance you had in a high pressure game.

anyway I concluded that you don't like Edin as a player (not as a person as you seem to have concluded) simply because all you've been saying all night is how shit he is and went to great distance to bring out all the negative stats you had about him...

Yes, those two posts that I made criticising him for giving the ball away is obviously me calling him shite all night. And there's no such thing as negative stats. There's just stats. Dzeko gave the ball away 16 times today. This is a fact. I'm sorry it affects your world-view so badly, but you'll have to learn to deal with it.

how about bringing something positive out after this win, because in today's performance he had far more positives than negatives...

Because I post on here to discuss City, not all sit around and suck each other off?

You're wasting your time mate. Several people on here cannot make the distinction between simple observation and slagging. If you criticise any aspect of a City player's game it must mean you hate him, according to them. As you correctly state, the stats on Dzeko's control are damning. And to pre-empt the suggestion (not from you, obviously) that I too 'hate' Dzeko, quite simply I don't. From interviews he comes across as modest and likeable, and he has good qualities to his game in that he makes good runs, has a nice line in raking passes, and frequently takes up good scoring positions. However, his touch, particularly with his back to goal, is woeful, his finishing is so-so at best, and at the moment he looks like he's playing in diving boots on a pitch made of treacle. I have no evidence, but he looks to me like he's put on a few pounds in weight, with consequent negative effects on his touch and balance

as you both have failed to notice I have never said that he is brilliant with his control, I agree that he is not good at coming deep for the ball or playing with his back to goal, I just made a conclusion based on the fact that same people bring out only the negative stats every time he plays...but play his game, stick him in the box and make the pass (which didn't happen today, kolarov, milner...) and he'll stick it in the net...is he better than aguero, tevez...no he isn't but he has advantages that can be exploited...

he frustrates me most of the time just as much as he frustrates you but I don't go harping on about his 16 misplaced passes or whatever...

So you're saying that Dzeko has poor control, and isn't suited to City's style of play?

It's funny that you're actually agreeing with every single thing that you picked up in the original post as somehow offensive to your sensibilities.

I have opinions and like to back them up with something concrete rather than just saying "FACT!! END OF". I'm sorry if this also offends your sensibilities. I was talking about how much he gave the ball away due to bad passing and poor control thus used the passing and control statistics to illustrate this. You see these as "negative statistics" which is a misnomer. Statistics don't have a personality, you saw them as negative because they made Dzeko look bad. They made Dzeko look bad because they showed he gave away the ball a lot. If I was talking about his shooting, I would have used the shooting statistics to back up my point.

On the basis of a 6 being average, some of those scores are generous!

3 best players for me were Tevez, Rodwell and silva.

All the defenders were a 6 for me including Hart who has still yet to make a save this year.

Nasri and Dzeko 6 each.

Yaya 7

Rodwell 7.5 silva 8 Tevez 8

Tevez once again mom for me.

Wasn't a fantastic performance today. We are lacking the cutting edge from last season but still racking up the points.

In 2nd gear for most of the game but we still had the passing and possession from last season.

Tevez and Rodwell played very well and Dzeko looks more alive than last week if he carrys on like this in Aguero's absence he will be getting back to Spurs "4" form.

4-3-2-1/4-2-2-2 works alot better than 5-3-2 at the moment so we should start on it but slowly introduce the 5-3-2.
