City vs Swans Post Match Thread

Just watching the highlights now on MOTD. We're still looking very shaky at the back. What the hell has happened to the days of clocking up regular clean sheets? Swansea got through far too easily, on more than one occasion. Our offside trap in particular looks a shambles. Still, a win's a win. Onwards and upwards.

The beginning was hilarious. I think the defense was nervy as hell, but after jovetic scored - I think he wasn't really celebrating and instead rallying the team 'come on!' or something? They're getting better.
By the end of the match it seemed like they gained their confidence back. I hope this continue!
Too bad the next match is Bayern Munich!

Good to get a win, we played reasonably well but we still look miles off.

Some of our defending was comical. Some playing for offside, others not, some diving in, others not covering, some thinking they were playing in midfield, others thinking they were the sweeper...all over the place. And coming from Kompany as well, hope he was shouting at himself for that Gomis chance because he made himself look a fool.

Oh and Navas is so wasteful. Some appalling crossing from him (no change there really!) and that chance at the end, just straight where the 'keeper would always dive...no finisher's instinct from him at all,,lift it! And for a winger, he doesn't understand what to do when the fullback overlaps him. How many times does Zaba overlap only to not be passed the ball (that's fine if Navas crosses it...) and Navas then runs into the area Zaba is which is crowded and there's no room to play. Set up another goal though so maybe I should take the rough with the smooth with him because he does get a fair few assists but his all round play can be like watching a naïve 17 year old who doesn't really know what he's doing.

Good to see Fernandinho back playing fairly well in midfield but it would be nice to see him with a few games under his belt and playing with a bit more confidence. Nasri was good. Demichelis was fantastic in his one-on-one challenges with Bony and his composure on the ball was excellent.

We needed the win more than owt though. Let's see if a few more can see us start playing well.

not yet but quite interested too

should have been a nailed on red according to my bro watching on tv.

The sound of the impact was really loud up on the top tier of the Kippax. Not seen TV coverage yet but it sounded like a red card challnege.
Is that confusing the horrible hack at Aguero with the off-the-ball incident later? I had a feeling the ref wouldn't even have given a yellow for the kick if we hadn't been chanting off off off.

It looks like we are on the road back to form. Good effort all round. We could easily have scored more. Someone tell Sergio to stop hogging the ball!
My thoughts as well. But his rare layoff to Clichy almost gave the full back his first City Premiership goal.

I also think that Stevan played a lot better as he could work his flicks and short passes with Samir.

Swansea are a good side but with a bit more luck in front of goal they could have been hammered. And if either of their two close calls at the end had gone in it would have been an injustice on us.

It's official.
We are incapable of defending a one goal lead.
We always have to give the opposition a couple of good chances at the end.

Apart from today?

I could have sworn I saw Bony one on one with Hart but then Bony bottled it (good wok by Hart by the way) and a free kick that came of our wall then span wickedly and just went past the the outside of the post by a mm or so...

What's your point? I'm going to have to assume that you quoted me by mistake, and that you don't actually believe we failed to defend a one goal lead today?

Good too be back with a win. I thought on another day we could of battered them 6-1 but credit where credits due, they all put in a real shift tonight, good too see our confidence is clearly back up.

Yes we went asleep a bit for their goal and towards the end (again) but overall, thought it we deserved too win. Wanna just get cracking again in the league against soton, As pessimistic as it sounds, I have absolutley no hope against Bayern, just can't see us beating them and roma AND hoping results go our way.

Onwards and upwards!

Could be. The hack was pretty industrial and haing seen replay, the cracking sound must have been the impact of boot on shin pad. Yellow probably the right card.

Only shown one clip of off te ball incident but that looked like another card and 2nd yellow or red pretty irrelvant: player should have walked.

This is almost word for word what i said to my brother at the match during the first half. Zab busted a gut to offer the overlap everytime, I don't recall Navas playing him in once. Firstly, you need to mix it up every now and again but if you're not going to play him in then he has to then use that created space to burst down the line and get a ball in, not stand still, shimmy forward, lose the space and then turn back out and play it back into midfield or to a retreating zabba.

Granted his cross for our first goal was pinpoint and a fantastic assist but the amount of times he makes the wrong choice is ridiculous. There's a point in mentioning the fact there's rarely anybody in the box to get on the end of any crosses but i think the other players know he's probably not going to put a cross in and so pull out to a position to receive the ball when it inevitably goes backwards. Not been as frustrated by any other city player as i am by Navas in a long time. Probably because he has the ability, technique and speed to be lethal for us. I can only think it's a mental, confidence issue with him.
