City vs Villa Post Match Discussion Thread

I said I wasn't going to look for positives after tonight but Mario did play well, and worked very hard I thought. By far our most effective player - but with the League Cup gone how do we fit 4 forwards into 3 competitions? Should have sold one in the Summer I think because there will be some unhappy players now. Not just forwards. Not sure we can really justify signing Garcia and Rodwell either. Both very good players, but did we need them both?

Yes, I also thought Mario was our best player, scored one, won the free kick for the second, laid on a great chance for Dzeko and forced Given into 2 decent saves. Tevez worked hard but was mostly ineffective, Razak had some good moments but needs to be more aware of what's going on around him. The game passed Suarez by completely, he looked almost scared of trying anything adventurous in his passing and seeing as he was there as the creative midfielder that was a big problem. I thought Sinclair was poor when he came on, one decent cross isn't really good enough at this level. The defence were collectively all over the shop, nothing new this season unfortunately.
Milner was dreadfull gave the ball away an awful lot with poor passing, unusual for him but most of the time didn't look interested. One decent pass for Mario's goal. Barry was also poor didn't look fit. Just like the Arsenal game we had a lot of players on the pitch who had bad games why?

To get rid of Nigel De Jong wasn't it ?

NOPE

Soul of the team went with him

This is spot on! In the past when we were winning and there were 10 mins left, we had the option of bringing on Nigel "The Enforcer" De Jong for an attacking player and he would break up opposition play in the midfield. I would say we are missing him.

Scored one goal, won the free-kick for the second, was the only City player to make Given work for his money and set up a great chance for Dzeko in extra time. By all means criticise him when he deserves it but that comment is just bollocks.
Written by someone who didn't go. He was the only player who performed

How the fuck do you know who does and doesn't go to games? I was there, forced out of my usual seat in the third tier and sat surrounded by some right balloons. Bloke behind me was a rag and his mate thought Razzak was Yaya Toure and Suarez was Silva!

In fact, it would make more sense to say someone who didn't go thinks Balo had a good game. Scoring a goal doesn't mean he had a good game.
Sorry however disagree. His general game was very good. The only time we ever looked like doing anything was when we broke with the ball at Mario's feet. he used it well and made some good passes out to Dzeko and Sinclair.

I had a few idiots behind me also. You could tell it was there 1st ever game. Pissed me off with the shit they came out with.

Here are some of the shit they said.

" that maicon is crap" - helan.
"How do you kick a ball that far"
"How do you head a ball that far"
"Silva looks to weak" - Suarez
" no John don't spark up if a steward sees us we will go to prison"
" I would never go to an away game as I would get stabbed have you seen that film.sick."

There were loads more. Game was that boring I just eavesdropped.

Oh come on mate, some of those are pearlers, give us some more.Actually better eavesdropping than watching it last night.
Loved the "prison" comment.WTF ???

Lol.

"Fuckin hell look at the size of that keeper I bet his nob is massive. "

" ye he has to watch out as he might headbut the cross bar"

" that Barry player is fucking shite and a fat bastard I'm better that him, even I wouldn't score an own goal"

"Do you think he did it on purpose as he use to play for them I think."

They got very excited when we started singing songs about that fat guy in the villa end.

Could prove to be a very important loss,i cant be upset when we play team consisting of squad players and kids.A midfield of Razak Suárez Milner and Barry.OK we had some quality upfront but if you dont dominate midfield it matters little what you have upfront,(look at what we did to the rags last year)
I was surprised at the team selection but Mancini knows these players needed the game time and they should of been able to defeat Villa at home.
Now its time to start playing our strongest 11 forget rotation put the best available 11 onthe pitch.

-- Wed Sep 26, 2012 12:20 pm --

Could prove to be a very important loss,i cant be upset when we play team consisting of squad players and kids.A midfield of Razak Suárez Milner and Barry.OK we had some quality upfront but if you dont dominate midfield it matters little what you have upfront,(look at what we did to the rags last year)

OK, stopped raining and I'm a tad warmer now....

Mancini v Lambert: Pitsch-side body language. If you were there you'll know what I mean.

Panty: seen enough, if Joe gets a knock, I fear the worst.
Razak: The guy is a liability.
Tevez: Has a City player ever worked so hard for 120 minutes for such little reward? Hope others take note. I don't care what's happened in the past, if you put a shift in, we'll back you.

But then, at the end...old boy next to me, who had smiled throughout, just said, "some things never change."

Kind of sums it up for me.

Apology accepted. Mario certainly divides opinion. Can't remember another City player who split the fans quite like him.

I don't think I've ever really taken to him to be honest. Part of it is what I consider double standards by Mancini who has shown Mario levels of patience he never showed to Adebayor, Bellamy and more recently Adam Johnson (though I agree with the sales of those players). Mario's discipline has improved but he's still not even reaching 70% of his talent on a regular basis. He thinks he's up there with Messi and Ronaldo but he's not even close.

For everything else there is MasterCard

Just watched the highlights. Fucking hell we looked worse than what it sounded.

Big questions have to be asked of the defence and midfield. That was truly awful.

At this level our team and squad simply have to be winning these games.
