City vs Villa - post match thread

I thought that the pace of the game, particullary in the first half simply played into Villa's hands. The pace we operate at for teams who clearly can't match us is woeful. Another five per cent up on the speed of pace, first time pass and we'd have had Villa on the ropes inside twenty minutes.

The match over the road and this one this afternoon were classic games of two halves. Grim first halves and much better second halves. But play like that against Kyiv and it's not foregone by a long chalk.

It's why Pep is so mouthwatering. He wants one or two touch football, at pace and with a purpose, going forwards.

Thought the first half was a bit too pedestrian and predictable. Bony, oh dear me. Second half early goal sparked more attacking play, Navas great. Villa utterly shocking.

Bit worrying first half but in the end was very comfortable.
Bony probably should've scored, understand the boos but I've seen glimpses and with the malaria still have faith.
2nd half was great. 1st goal was nice play from Sergio and David, bit fortunate but Yaya's goal. 2nd goal I'd say very lucky.
Navas had a pretty good game I thought and Sterling popped up to tap in our last. But the 3rd goal was beautiful. Stunning one-two and finish from Silva and Agüero.
The opposition looked pretty terrible but gladly take the joy, Clichy very close but will say Agüero motm.
Congrats Manu Garcia first League appearance I think, definitely hope he makes it.

Happy with the result but important to remember we were playing against a poor team that is struggling this season.....Its great to get back to winning ways and see players like Yaya, Silva, Clichy have good performances after all the stick we have given them over the last few months....again, not getting too excited as we were playing a bottom team but we still had to get the job done......I heard during the game that we've not won back to back games in the prem since Oct, so now is a great time to break that......Well done blues....great to be able to watch Match of the day for the first time in 3 weeks!; )

Hopefully this win will put us back on track and we can build from here. Everyone knows my views on 442 with Yaya as one of the midfield two and Silva supposedly playing wide left. Countless times this predictable set up has cost us dear but still we persist. Luckily for us we were at home against the worst Villa side I've ever seen and one of the worst Premier League side ever too. God knows what's happened to them in recent years, but my heart breaks to see such a once great side performing the way they did. The fact they had 3 former City players in their side justifies why we parted company with Micah and let Lescott go and sold Sinclair for peanuts.

We hardly had to get out of first gear today and perhaps this match came just at the right time to help us get the Anfield debacle out of our collective systems. Flat track bullies? Nah, as the saying goes, you can only beat what's in front of you so in that respect its job done. As for the harder tasks we face, today's performance answers no questions to how this season will end for us. But all in all, its another 3 points so that'll do for now.

Or not beat what is in front of you if they happen to be a top 7 side.
