City vs Villa - post match thread

Painfully slow tempo all game, as we have been most of the season but the game was always going to be about whether we could score one goal. As soon as we got one, the game was over and Villa fell apart, so it was fortunate that we got a lucky goal after missing a few chances that we really should have buried. Need to play with a hell of a lot more urgency if we want to win against premier league standard opposition.

Thought we were poor in the first half. Just no tempo or pace on the ball. Better second half. Navas good, loved the camio from Garcia. He looks such a good player. Raheem played well. Villa pretty tragic really. At least it didn't rain (much). Steak and pepper pies to their usual sublime standard.

Can't complain about a 4-0 win. Spurs and Arsenal drew. If LC lose or even draw it'll be a great day.
You should take a look at all the suicidal people in the PL thread in response to Leicester's victory.

Stan Collymore in agony, good job City.

Apparently he wants City fans to look at the last 5 league games when considering if they can win the league... i.e an arbitrary period of time which makes us look bad.

Stick it up your arse you shit.

I hope he said the same about the North London clubs.

Thought they were filming an advert for walking football during the first half. It was so slow and like watching two teams in the bottom six who've escaped relegation and were playing the final game of the season. Second half we got a bit lucky with the first two goals and Villa gave up but the other two goals were good.

But Villa were utterly dross and just going through the motions. We still lack the zip and desire that would give me some hope we can close the gap with a barnstorming last 10 games.

It's why Pep is so mouthwatering. He wants one or two touch football, at pace and with a purpose, going forwards.
Pep is more about controlling the game than playing with pace. I think if people expect us to go flying forward with pace and purpose under Pep they're going to be very disappointed.

Sadly, I don't think we can do that any more. I genuinely believe I could set a team up to play against us right now. We've got no 'wow' factor. Our bigger players, those who could (?) make a difference....well, they're not up to it. In my opinion, and only my opinio, our 'fear factor' players don't have it at this moment in time:

Silva is pedestrian at best, and certainly doesn't do the business often enough - looks amazing in a good team that is firing, but when the team is struggling I just don't think he has it in him to lift it on his own.

Yaya is no longer able to go on those incredible runs, and I can't see it returning - he'll still have a few good games left in him, but not enough to carry the team, which he has done in the past.

Sterling - nope.

KdB, really unfortunate with the injury and it'll take time for him to get match fit again - he's been missed.

Aguero - great, great player, but again just isn't firing on all cylinders, and won't carry the team.

He's still upset Bradford weren't playing
