CL Quarter Final Draw - Liverpool A Apr 4th - H Apr 10th

After laughing until I couldn't stand up watching Manure getting a well deserved ejection from the CL the night before last, I watched Chelsea/Barca last night. My mind kept wandering into thoughts of how we would tackle Barca. This City team has never shut up shop against anyone. We'd just have to play our normal game and back ourselves to score - mindful that we're not going to get 20 chances. We'd have to be at our most ruthless - no rugby kicks over the bar. Barca are more cynical than many believe and they seem to have the refs on their side.

Chelsea had a lot of joy in the wide areas last night, I honestly think Sane and Sterling would have a field day against their full backs

I had a similar discussion with a friend of mine regarding hockey years ago. I kept saying that during a playoff series that one team was unlucky and the games were close because they were all ending with one goal difference but the team losing was getting more chances and always looked just about ready to change it. He had played for years professionally (though not top level) and said, the difference between hitting the pipes and going in is usually further than you think it is. Having a lot of shots that go wide, doesn't make it a quality chance. Even though I was caught on the stats of the situation, he correctly stated that the game was never in doubt.

Once Barca was up 1-0 nill after a couple minutes, they simply adjusted better. The shots that looked like they were close were almost as well hit as they could have been under the circumstance. Did you ever feel that Barca was in trouble? I didn't. They controlled the action from the start even without the ball and made the most of their opportunities. We've had a lot of occasions this year that we completely dominated play and came out 1 or 2 goals on top. I've watched Barca play 10 or so times this year. They are in full control but rarely look as imperious in their play as our guys do regularly.

Part of the fun of all of this is that we can watch the same match and come out of it with completely different view points of what was going on during play. And we can both be right, because it is just our opinions based on what we are looking for.

It's 2 3/8" max. ; )

On a negative note, a friend has just returned from a night of dejection and Baton wielding coppers "giving Chelsea fans what for"
I really hope we don't play Barcelona or Madrid this round, the final will do

Juve v City
Bayern v Roma
Liverpool v Madrid
Barca v Sevilla

God I hope it’s nothing like that.

Bound to be a couple of juicy ties. My guess is
Bayern v Liverpool
Madrid v Roma
City v Juve
Barca v Sevilla

I fancy us to beat anyone over 2 legs the way we’re playing

This may sound like a stupid question, but is there any seedings? Regarding Home and away ties for the draw, or is it simply 8 teams in the hat and drawn out? how is it decided if you are home or away etc?

First team out is home I believe

We are at the stage of the comp now where you have to be very clever during the game. Our football will have to be of the highest order from here on in, no doubt about it. This is where the real shit starts. Diving, feigning injury, histrionics, refs falling for it all as well. The continental clubs see these things as acceptable/justifiable ways of getting a result. My fear is this may be where we come undone. We can give anyone a game, but there's still a couple of teams in there who on their day are at least as if not better than us.

I do not want to sound like a coward but Barcelona is the last team I'd like to have.
As long as Messi plays there they are favorites against every team, even against us.
Sevilla will be a dream, I also hope that Liverpool will get Rome because in this way Bayern Juventus Real and Barcelona will have to play against each other and at least 2 of these huge clubs will be out.
Think of a situation where:
City - Sevilla
Liverpool-Roma
Bayern-Real
Juventus -Barcelona

If City moves to the semi-finals we will be able to meet Liverpool or Roma which is great for us.
In the end we will have to deal with the best, I just prefer it to be in the final on neutral field and not in Camp Nou or Bernabeu

Dream Draw for me would be
Madrid v Barcelona
Liverpool v Bayern
Juventus v Roma
Seville v City
fat chance of these coming out though.
