Not quite the same thing but even if it was, having to go back four years to find one suggests it’s not something happening on such a regular basis that you’d likely be 100% sure it’s happened here.

I doubt if it would happen with such a serious offence but wasn't there someone living in a church in Hulme(?) to avoid deportation about 30 or 40 years ago? - Different religion of course, but a similar principle.

Funnily enough I ended up living right next to that church many years later.

It’s completely different thing though. They weren’t hiding him away from police. They were offering him ‘sanctuary ’ Which of course isn’t a thing anyway. And I’m pretty sure the police ended up storming the church and dragging him away.

I’m not sure how he feels, but given he’s a priest I’m pretty sure about what he feels.
