Classic Rock (Phil Collins lives, run for the hills)

For a band from Scotland they were blacker than WWF. One of the best soul/ funk/ jazz bands of all time.

First time posting on this thread!

If I may be so bold, I absolutely loved the debut album from Gun back in 1989. A cracking Scottish band, and I can heartily recommend 'Taking on the World'.

At a time when House, Rap and other new genres were coming to the fore, to me, they were a Champion of new British rock around that time. I listened to it relentlessly.

In 89 I was still on my Big Country crusade, then Idlewild.

Much obliged PJ! I hope I can add an opinion and maybe some nostalgia!?

I have to admit whilst I love my rock and metal, I like anything from Mozart to Metallica, Soul like Nina Simone, the obvious Indie classics, Depeche Mode and New Order too.

Having played in a Silver Band I think it gives you an appreciation of Music as a whole.

The Jesus and Mary Chain were a great band.
Wild Horses featuring Brian Robertson were good as well.
The Cocteau Twins could make a great noise as well.

Was it 'April Skies' I liked. Not a full on efficianado of the Reid boys (dear Lord I hope I'm right with a glass of Blended malt in me!)

All opinions welcome and we open arms to a broad church of opinions.
My Dad was a music teacher and conductor of both Classical and brass.
The overture may be classic rock but a classical coda more than suffices.

Love that album. Better days was one of my favourite "hits" of that year.
