Classic Rock (Phil Collins lives, run for the hills)

I was never a prog fan at the time so have no history with either but as I've mentioned I spent the time in lockdown and since going back over a lot of prog. I really only like 3 Genesis albums as albums though most have songs on I like. I have enjoyed nearly all the Steve Hacket ones though especially some of the more recent ones Edge of Light,Dark Town, Out of the Tunnel mouth,Wolflight. Never seen either but think I'd go and seen Steve Hacket but not really Genesis.
You wouldn’t be disappointed. Some of his solo work - Everyday, which he played on this tour, springs immediately to mind for example - is every bit as special as his Genesis work, if not better.

Its a toss up!...I prefer the Allmans...mainly because they didn't come up with overblown 3 chord cabaret like ''Boogie No More''!!
Overblown 3 chord cabaret?! Dear me.
‘Does it have the desired positive emotional effect on the listener?’ Boogie No More, Fall Of The Peacemakers, Satisfied Man, Gator Country and the rest all do. That’s the only criteria for me. I couldn’t give a toss how few/many chords are used.
I’m also not sure what’s wrong with a bit of ‘overblown’ in rock? I certainly wouldn’t be using that as an insult of choice to describe Bat Out of Hell, 2112, Stairway, Child In Time, and most of the output of Yes, Genesis, Marillion, Iron Maiden and half the other heavier bands out there … but it certainly could be.

Ozzy and Oasis are the big dogs here.

Oldfield went Tubular of course, exorcising his demons.

The Outlaws are one of the finest Southern Rock bands.

Late entry for 'N' .... NUTZ. Great band that seemed destined for bigger things than they achieved. They seemed to support everyone for a short time. But my fave gig was one they headlined at Rafters in town (Supported by The Out, who's claim to fame was guitarist George Borowski, aka Guitar George)

Nutz had a top guitarist in Mick Devonport and singer Dave Lloyd had a huge great voice in a tiny guy. Remember the Cadbury Flake ads? Only the crunchiest flakiest etc .... that was him. (And the young lady in question was Roger Taylor's then girlfriend, later wife, Debbie Leng)

'O' in my collection not mentioned yet:

Off Broadway
