I don't know if the sending off was a sending off because I had just turned to speak to the person in the row behind me, but there were many challenges from the Arsenal players that they got away with. HOWEVER, when you hear the Arsenal fans, as you are walking back to your car, chanting: "What a lovely referee" you do begin to wonder!!

Anyway, it is one match, we have the rest of the season to go and the players gave 110%, every single one of them, they never gave up and that is all I ask. If their heads had gone down and they hadn't given their all then I would have been more disappointed. As it is I can cope with one defeat. Onward and upward!!

clear red card, just watched the sky recording.

JoeMercer's Way: I shall have to wait until MOTD2 as I don't have SKY, but I will take your word for it. :-)

Glen, thank you for the kind words. I try to be honest in my views and keep an open mind.

Not his biggest fan and it did seem he had a few quid on at the bookies on number of yellows issued, but cant really blame him for today. It was a sending off, it was a penalty and the linesman was as bad for both sides.

Only error i thought he done today was book Kompany when Song (or sagna) ran into Kompany and he had no chance to get out of the way

it was not a penalty, vinny clipped the ball.

the ref is a cheat, a twat and the thing is he's always the same.once the ref was named i thought we would lose.

Kompany never touched the ball at all, Andy Gray even said he didn't think it was a penalty at first because he thought Kompany got the ball, but on the replay Fabregas knocked the ball away and Kompany took him.

Clattenberg was a disgrace today. The **** booked blue after blue, but failed to book fabregas for a second time. Song ran straight into vinnie and vinnie gets booked! Anyone who says he had a good game is either in the 3rd tier or on a dodgy stream. Yes, the pen was a pen, but a straight red for his FIRST FUCKING TACKLE. Clattenberg i hope you die on the way home.

I agree Glen. Has a bigger bag of horseshit ever been sent onto a football field armed with a whistle? I wouldn't trust the tosser with a penny whistle and the sheet music for Yankee Doodle Dandy.

To Herr Crappenberg: Sir, I wouldn't mistreat my roses by using you as fertilizer.

Re: Clattenberg..

Makes no difference if its the first minute, last minute or first tackle it was a red card.

It was a nailed on pen.

He didn't have a terrible game but whoever it was who jumped into Tevez with 2 feet was lucky to stay on the pitch. If I remember correctly it was Denilsen (may have been Song). Either way it was a challenge that will go unnoticed by the "let's all hate De Jong" mob.

Re: Clattenberg..

Clattenburg ruined the game. It was never a sending off. Yes it was a foul, yes Chamakh was the last man BUT was it a clear goalscoring opportunity ? Absolutely not. He knocked the ball way too far leaving Hart to pick the ball up, he woud never have got the ball, therefore, under those circumstances a yellow card was the right decision.

If the challenge had been down the right wing and Chamakh had been the last man would it have been a sending off ? No.

The ref has to judge whether Boyata prevented a goalscoring opportunity and anyone with half a brain knows that to get sent off for that with 4 minutes gone was an absolute travesty.

Don't disagree with the penalty - even if it was soft - but the damage had already been done.
