I know mate. thing is its such an important position, it has to be the right appointment. I think even you as one of Bravo's biggest supporters will accept it hasn't worked. could have done of course and we'd all be happy as we would be in a much stronger position in the table. Pep has to get it right next year, not his fault how bravo hasn't settled etc but he has to pick up pieces. I am really looking forward to next season with a keeper than can do it both with hands and feet, the way we counter and speed is a joy to behold but we do have to be much much stronger at the back, Vinny and a good keeper will see to that, especially if we get Laporte.

I would have him over the Bravo we see now. all day long to be honest. I literally panic when the ball comes anywhere near our net. for all his faults I never once felt that with Hart. I used to moan like fuck at his distribution but it didn't quite make me keel over, Bravo does that on a weekly basis :)

It hasn't worked this season I would agree, but I do not attribute it all to him. If he is here next season (which I have no reason to think he wont be), then I think we will see the player we thought we were buying

100% not all down to him. many things haven't gone our way. for all the furore about Bravo, miss firing forwards and Pep's ridiculous rotating to me the single main reason has been bent refs. You can buy who you like, get the best manager and a system to win every game, if the ref is at it you stand no chance. with a new defence and Jesus and gundagan fit we will make their cheating futile.

I'm happy enough if Bravo was kept as back-up to a new number one. He's younger than Caballero, and more suited to Guardiola's style. I'm fairly confident he won't be as bad next season when called upon.
 
Don't have a problem with him staying if it's as number 2 but i'm surprised that he would want to do that at this stage of his career. I'd be tempted to walk away if i was him, just put it down to his family not settling and then hopefully restore his reputation back in Spain or wherever. Would take a very determined chap with a pretty thick skin to stay on as number 2 so fair play to him if he does. I would be pretty gutted if we didn't bring in a new number one though.
 
It's the most logical move from a financial PoV to keep him. I'd say the plan was always to go into the market for another keeper this summer regardless as Caballero's contract is expiring.
 
Don't think it's such a bad thing, so long as it doesn't scupper any deals with a new GK like Ederson Moraes.

If he's that determined to stay and make it work, good. His lack of English/communication was a contributing factor to his decline this year and maybe he can get some of his confidence back too.

Just to add, Maks Cardenas/Cooperativa stated Bravo would stay earlier in the month.

They are a really solid source on Chilean players.
 
I think things will be much clearer in 6 games time.

He looks better to me since coming back. He's certainly dealing with crosses more authoritatively and the rest of the team has caught up to him with regards to playing it out from the back, I don't recall any hairy moments in the last 2 games and he was being very adventurous in his positioning and demanding the ball outside his box often.

He's only faced 2 shots on target in that 180 minutes though, and one was the Hull goal - which I don't blame him for personally.

If he is truly back as #1, then we'll see enough in the next 6 games to decide if he's gotten over a bad start and can now be number 1 (which would be great news for Angus Gunn), or if we need to spend big on a starter for next season.
 
If we get Ederson from Benfica, I think Bravo will work great along side him. Having someone who has played for Barca and knows Pep's play styles will be useful for Ederson

I think we'll almost certainly bring in a new number one, presumably Ederson.
 
Better to have him around than to loan him out and pay his wages anyway.

We bring in a new No1, takes the pressure of him and hopefully he can perform in the cups and rediscover some old form.

That's not an easy transfer though, with Benfica having a €60m buyout clause on the 50% they own, and another club having no clause on the 50% they own.

That could easily get mired in legal battles, not to mention get prohibitively expensive as we get held to ransom by one club or the other.
