Which was so named by Nordic settlers, as it was far greener and agriculturally productive in the past. The problem with the climate change argument is that it's proponents constantly ignore population growth as the fundamental source of the problem. There is, to my mind, no point whatsoever in stifling growth to the extent that the windmill and wave power lobby suggest with the resultant economic decline that will and is now ensuing.
In short, bollocks to global warming. The Chinese don't give a fuck.
Neither should we.

After watching a few documentaries on the subject I believe that the climate does change but not in line with CO2 where there was a 500yr gap between cause and effect but in line with the amount of sun spot activity going on. The big problem with that hypothesis though is that you can't really tax sun spots so lets go with CO2.

Regardless of climate change I do agree though that we couldn't go on being so wasteful and disrespectful to nature and had to do something. Maybe some good will come out of it even if it is for the wrong reasons.

I think there is little doubt that climate change is happening but whether it is man made is another matter.

On balance I think it probably is, but don't necessarily see it as the doomsday scenario that others do.

Some academics have calculated that a moderate degree of global warming will save more lives than it claims.

I know Ernesto will see this as another piece of irrefutable evidence of my crypto-fascist leanings but the only factor that is going to have any meaningful impact on our consumption of oil is the price of that commodity. Once it becomes unaffordable to extract human ingenuity and the profit motive will weave their magic.

I just hope it's before any lasting damage is inflicted on our planet. Wishing the problem away, I'm sorry to say, will achieve nothing as you cannot surpress humanities' hard-wiring to improve itself materially.
You beat me to it ;0)

People say Nuclear Power is the answer to preventing global climate change,i believe the opposite is true & Nuclear Power will if not already cause major environmental damage.
When commercial fusion kicks in we can all chill. It's only twenty years away you know. ;-)

The Earth goes through this change all the time we just happen to be in the 'getting a wee bit hotter than average' stage at the moment. In a few hundred years we will be in the 'Oh, it's getting cooler than average' stage.

Have we caused this? No. We might have given it a small nudge but that's it.
