The clue is we are a living planet, our climate has always changed.
i think you might find that the planet is dieing, or are you another right winger in denial ?

In the basic sense you are also dying mate, would you save you are not living?

As for climate change, as most say yes it is happening but part of a cycle, perhaps we have made it happen a touch quicker but we can't stop it. Big white elephant this, should be figuring out where the human race will need to live and start preparing that for the +6bn folk.

No its not happening but its a great way to tax people!!
Look at the cycle of Earth it gets hot and cold and we have just came out of an ice age relativly speaking so its bound to be getting warmer

-- Mon Jul 04, 2011 7:59 am --

Who told you the planet is dying, it will outlast the sun and thats not gonna go for a good 20 million years. Just because human life becomes unsustainable on the planet doesnt mean its dying. It lived before us and it will be alive after us with other creatures on it.

Step away from the science. It doesn't suit you, not your colour I don't think.

May have to explain this a bit better to me?

Fair enough. Well, it's substantially more than twenty million years. You might have meant to type billion (have made that mistake before meself) but then the number would be wrong. The Sun has been around five billion years and will last for another few more billion as a main sequence star after which it'll become a red giant and most likely swallow up Earth. Long before that though the surface will be so hot the planet will be unable to sustain water. We're still talking a billion years at least. Plenty of time to emigrate.

I was going to write all that stuff about the sun taking the earth out but couldnt be bothered but then you pulled me up on it!! Technically the sun will die before the earth though, lol! As for the years i couldnt remember if it was million or billion so i just guessed really

Well technically our sun will never die. In order for a star to die, it needs to go supernova, ours will probably spent eternity as a white dwarf. Eventually its energy will also die out, leaving a massive but small (about earth sized) dark object floating in space forever.

Or win the league

Can you imagine the panic if the following happened this winter

During the Great Frost of 1683–84, the worst frost recorded in England, the Thames was completely frozen for two months, with the ice reaching a thickness of 11 inches (28 cm) in London. Solid ice was reported extending for miles off the coasts of the southern North Sea (England, France and the Low Countries), causing severe problems for shipping and preventing the use of many harbours.[4] Near Manchester, the ground was frozen to 27 inches; in Somerset, to more than four feet.
