What I mean is that surely we should of been a bit more high profile when we signed Beasley and Reyna, and Sat TV has been going for over 20 years.

I am typing a bit too quick.

ESPN has only regularly shown Premier League games for the last three seasons. Had to have Fox Soccer before to watch any at all, though it is increasingly inexpensive in cable "sports channel" packages.

Soccer is currently blowing right the fuck up over here, at all levels. Even MLS is doing quite well.

Cheers for that I always thought ESPN (US) had being showing the Premier League for a lot longer.
God no. The contortions I had to go through to watch anything but a World Cup match or the occasional friendly against Brazil or Mexico was completely stupid.

MLS football is now the third most attended sport in the USA, overtaking Ice Hockey and Basketball.

I doubt that would be a case if those two would be played on stadiums though.

Not likely as basketball and hockey are rather regional while European football is spreading.

Hockey (marginal at the best of times) and Basketball ( I wouldn't say that is regional) also play twice as many games, and are still losing out. Remember not all MLS teams have NFL size stadiums, i.e., Portland Timbers and I'd venture to say that the Timbers are more popular than the Portland Trailblazers (1977 NBA champs).

The only sport in the US that has close to the passion that the PL has is American 'College' Football.

Baseball is waning and football is growing it's summertime and the livin' is easy.

It's a toss up for me between Dempsey, and Donovan as to who I would like to smash in the face with a hockey stick the most.

What a Canadian thing to say.

Nah, Canadians are pretty passive. They usually reserve that kind of behavior for baby harp seals.

-- Fri Jun 01, 2012 10:38 am --

Terry Dunfield didn't help us that much either.

Dunfield is playing here in the MLS for Toronto FC now.

Yeah, I was struggling for how to put into clear terms the situation basketball faces. It has pockets of strong support all around the country, but the pro game is very dependent on having a winning team unless you're in New York, Chicago, or Los Angeles. The college game is only really a big deal for three weeks a year mostly for betting purposes.

Liverpool are meant to be sniffing around if you believe the papers.
