Re: the f.c.
As has been hinted 'Manchester City' branding may be used for other things including hotel, leisure etc. What I have not seen mentioned is that 'Manchester City' could also been used for other sports teams that may be based at the Etihad Campus in the future, similar to Barcelona (though they do use fc barcelona as the name of their basketball team) or the Sport verein (sports club) based teams in Germany, that cover a multitude of sports. (e.g. S.V. Hamburg).

By not having FC or for that matter SC for sports club many different things can be part of the club.

Today a football club, tomorrow world domination[emoji3]

I said the following yesterday

Was wondering if I am the only person who thinks the dropping of football could be significant. It allows us to put are branding on things without causing a problem for rival fans or non football fans who might buy the product Cook did say that he wanted us to have our brand on all sorts of products. I suspect this has been mentioned before. My second thought was it could be to do with the Campus since it could do with some other sports facilities and teams to create footfall, interest, infrastructure, and goodwill, for more boring but commercially viable operations like hotels, Casino, concerts, food operations etc etc

Hopefully the club know some people are upset at not having Football Club or FC on the badge and let us know whats going on not that I expect them to alter there plans or announcements but would be nice to know whats going on with the Campus the brand and the badge

Another reason why i dont like the design, for this reason. The bevel/emboss and light source look to be coming from the wrong direction to me.

The ship and gold shield have shadows that dictate that the light is coming from a western to eastern direction, yet your emboss light direction appears to be coming from north-east to south-west and east to west .... its all very confusing. Not your fault, if the badge is in a room with light sources that create shadows from the badge, it contradicts the shadows on the badge design.
There's more than one Light source, I used 3, 2 spotlights and an ambient light

This is definitely the correct answer 're; having FC dropped from the badge.
I came across a videogame trailer yesterday for a sport called Handball (never heard of it before)
And it had athletes representing PSG vs. Barca playing a sport which combines basketball with soccer/football.
Similar kits as their footy clubs, just a different sport.

I can see motorsport, ice hockey, all kinds of sport under this "City" umbrella, similar to how Red Bull operate their marketing.

I'm just awaiting a indoor arena at the Etihad campus which surely has to be inevitable if City are going down this route of other sports.

You've never heard of handball?

I agree with Redbull comment I mentioned it a rival fan forum where I said that we had a different business model to other clubs I got slated and forced off for trolling or something. I cannot remember weather I suggested that we would go down the Redbull rout in terms of other sports or as comparison of getting the brand on stuff eg hair product, cars, soup, energy drink. Think I mentioned the possibility of both after all Redbull have only one product and then the sports teams

I do not believe that the other sports will be very profitable but they will improve the marketing be anchor tenants, allow for infrastructure spending and lots of food and merchandising money, concert money and other leisure spend

I seen a troop of kids a couple of yrs ago in the newly opened bmx centre attached to the velodrome, they all marched out with sky blue mercer style jackets on that on closer inspection had the FC missing but were clearly City and the bike team.

Me , mempry's gone fuzzy but i'm sure it was GC who mentioned that 'City' (the name) could be used for a variety of things from a reveloutionary fone (City phone) to an alternative fuelled car (City car)

Years ago boxing coaches would encourage boxers to play fives.. with it containing no racket it encouraged a player to become more ambidextrous....back to the blue rivered badge....

Handball is often called 'fives'

Isn't Fives the game that's similar to squash but with no bat? Al Pacino plays it in one of his films, maybe Frankie and Johnny?

I think the Handball the other poster is talking about is the one they play in Germany and other European countries where it's basically 5 a side water polo on dry land? Schmicheal used to play it and credits it for improving him as a goal keeper.

My apologies if the o/p was referring a more obtuse sport with the same name, i've never heard anyone mention handball and not be meaning the 3 sided court version.

We won't know what to moan about first, soon.

This is what I was referring to. Forgive my ignorance I just had never come across the sport before (well never seen it live anyway)
This is where I can see the brand "City" flourishing in a multitude of sports and our local rivals don't seem too focused on this side of things, I mean they don't even have a Womens footy team

Do you not remember Manchester United Basketball Team? It was often mentioned on Radio Manchester. There is no point starting teams for sports that hardly anyone will watch in this country.

hmm, I disagree... As much as I wouldn't watch a City basketball team, or a horse named City in a race myself... I can see with the willingness that City have in using social media/youtube , that they could potentially grasp a quite sizeable audience for these speciality sports. I mean, 500k youtube subscribers - surely a number might fancy watching a City Motorcross stunt team or some City sponsored professional videogame team?

Can just see it now...Somekid sponsored by City, broadcasting videos of himself building the Etihad in Minecraft.
Kids watch this shit religiously.

It ain't my kind of thing but these videos are getting crazy views.
