Club Statement (confirmed that Mancini sacked)

Despite the manner and timing of this announcement, I don't think that he was sacked based on the UCL perfomances, lack of fight in the EPL or even the FA Cup defeat. The team looked stale, he was asking for more money to bring in expensive players when the board have witnessed lacklustre perfomances against teams full of 'budget' or home-grown players. Coupled with his persona and general single, minded approach to management are opposite of what the the two Spaniards have been bought in to do unfortunately!!

Nonetheless, he will always be a legend and up there with Joe Mercer and Malcolm Allison because of the success and joy witnessed by us all over the past 3 and half years.

Shocked and sad to see him go. It does not bode well if the club are going to sack perfectly good managers on the basis of one failed season

QPR fan here.

Just wanted to say how shocked and disgusted to hear Mancini has been sacked. It makes no sense as Man City have had a pretty good season. Yet more evidence that today's football richest owners use these clubs as toys and show contempt for managers and fans.

Mancini done a great job at City. Last season's finale when you beat us in Fergie time to win the Pemiership was one of the all time great matches. You could see the passion written all over Mancini's face when you scored the winning goal and the after match celebrations.

I feel sorry for the Man City fans to see another manager go. But this is football now. It's all about winning trophies and money and nothing else.

Don't feel sorry for us mate, we have great owners, we may not agree with their decision but deep down we all know they have acted in what they believe is the best interests of the club.

The pressure is now on Sor and Beg to get the next appointment right.

No matter how our team lines up next season if the manager and results fall below the standard now required both will be looking for new jobs.

No chance in hell their jobs are depending on new manager and his results.. they are brought to reorganize the club from up to down and vice versa and will have years to do it.

Rightly or wrongly MSP the supporters , the owners , the sponsors etc don't see it that way.

The clubs worldwide focus sits fairly and squarely on the fortunes of the first team.

The biggest responsibility that the CEO and Director have is in the appointment of the first team manager.

Get that wrong and they will be cactus.

The work in the EDS is no doubt important but it pales into insignificance if the first team are not meeting their objectives MSP.

You can get all the players you think will make you more competitive as a team but if you don't achieve your targets as we have seen with RM you are shown the door.

If we fail to meet our short term goals next season then I can assure you along with the manager will mean the CEO and the Director of Football will go as well.

It won't be a case as it was with Marwood and pushing him away into a less important role which he is happy to take on because he doesn't like being in the spotlight.

Next season the spotlight will be on the Barca duo as much as the new manager and its nailed on if we do not improve on this years efforts they will be under the gun.

Next season we will play more attractive and entertaining football but will finish no higher than third and maybe win only the League Cup. So which is better?

Woke up to find out he's gone.Disappointed by the way it has been handled, and disappointed he's gone.Good luck to Roberto in his next position.
Regarding the press headlines, the club couldn't win, whatever they did whether they sacked him now or next month. For the most part the press are a bunch of hypocritical tossers and City should take note of the worst of them and start handing out bans.
Whoever the new guy,is he will get the fans support I'm sure.

Given the vast resources at Manchester City's disposal, this season has been nothing short of an absolute disaster for the club.

But I do feel that it was more than a tad harsh to sack Mancini after delivering City's first major trophies for over a generation.

You don't think we have a chance of finishing ahead of Moyes?
