Cole Palmer

We can't have a squad of 50, and decisions need to be made.
City were prepared to spend big on Eze. So, there was space for Palmer, just not the guarantee of first team regular appearances. City should've convinced him to settle for a loan move.

When Chelsea signed palmer for us I said to a fella in work that he’d never be a star I don’t know why but I just thought when he played for city he looked greedy and would often make the wrong decision but I have watched him quite often recently for Chelsea and I think he looks more and more like KDB hanging in the channel and always looking to break the lines when he receives the ball

He looks what he is in that Chelsea team. A very young footballer with loads to learn but some silky skills. He is getting far more game time than he would with us so from that perspective he will feel the move has been validated. that they all struggled against a depleted defence sitting on the half way line was nothing short of comical. I lol at times.
Think the move will have suited all sides.

If a young player asks Pep for guarantees, he will not give them. The young player then has a choice to make, and Cole made his. We got a good fee, and he is happy. We just move on and I am pleased for him and I want him to do well. If he does, it continues to reflect well on our training and development and encourages other teams to invest in our young players; that helps us be more successful.

We can never, ever, fulfil the dreams of all of our academy players - it simply isn't possible.

The one thing about being a selling club (which we are when it comes to the Academy/ CFC, bar some noticeable exceptions) is that them doing well benefits other sales.

So if Palmer does smash it at Chelsea it is actually advantageous for us longer term.

But success or failure we made an absolute fortune on him and reinvested it.

I think time will show he’s a great player, but whether it is right or not will be shown by if we are successful.

No not at all he's had far more of an impact taking points off our title rivals which we have already seen v Arsenal and Tottenham than would've done for us. Decent prospect, £45m great business best of luck to him apart from when plays City of course.

Of course we did. He is our own academy player and a talented one to boot. We certainly needed his profile more than what Doku current offers whose competing with Grealish for a spot when there is a big hole left by my Mahrez on the right.

Not a clanger, for the reasons already covered, but I do think he could have been an important player for us.

Didn't work out, he'll be fine and we'll be fine.

I hope he does well but we didn’t drop anything because he wanted to leave. Letting him go for free would have been a clanger. Getting good money for him shows how well run we are.

And by the way, where did he go in the second half last night? He was pretty ineffective after the penalty although not sure if that was Chelsea being abysmal as a whole or not.
