Cole Palmer

So you're saying he's mentally weak?

Besides, you're a Barcelona fan so who gives a shit about your opinion?

Not necessarily.
I mean this...:

... is the same as "not giving a chance", for Pep's parameters.

It's strange, because Pep is also very romantic in the sense that a boy from the quarry is very valuable. You know, the kid born in your city, who REALLY loves ManCity, that in his childhood he dreamed of playing in blue etc etc etc. All this makes Pep's cock very tough.

I can make sure that of all those guys, Pep is most proud of this:

... because that reminds him of this:

...and this to this...:

...and to this:

And with all that, he knows that you can achieve this:

...but you could never get it with these:

All this is very important in Pep's mental scheme.

So actually guys like Palmer have an advantage.

Pep would probably see little interest, hunger, concentration... in him.

I hate this debate so much. I’ve see all of the arguments on both sides and none of them are even in the same ballpark as convincing.

The “shouldn’t have sold him” people are ridiculously short sighted and reactionary and the “he said he wanted to leave that’s it” people are completely dishonest (Bernardo has wanted to leave for 4 years; Any player would want to leave after the clubs spend £150m on players in your position rather than playing you - it’s embarrassing seeing people act as if he just randomly decided to leave one day and Pep couldn’t stop him).

I know 2 things.

1) You cannot judge decisions like this until years (ie 5+) later and all the pieces have settled.

2) There’s 2 or 3 kids as good as Cole Palmer in every age group in the academy, so we are going to have this argument roughly every 18 months for as long as the academy is doing what it’s doing.

Let's be honest , his end product at City wasn't anywhere near as good as Fodens. No surprise to me we let him go when we did, especially for £50m. Since he's left he's done well in a crap side. Good for him. Do I want him back, not really as I'm still not sure he would be able to play the way Pep wants him to.

but palmer didn't want to hang around be patient
Not all want to just learn in training field.
There are players who want to play and show what they are capable on field.
He wanted to play, he is playing and showing why he deserved more minutes. Youngsters are getting chances across many teams from very young age and they are being paid well.
There come a point where players just don't wanna learn from best manager on training grounds especially when peers are lighting up the filed elsewhere

Not really, players like Lewis or Bobb will be introduced into the team as Pep sees fit. Players will either accept that challenge like Foden did, or not like Sancho and Palmer didn’t.
Any that don’t want to stay and take on the challenge, like Palmer, won’t stay and will have a decent career elsewhere.

Had he stayed, what we would no doubt be hearing would be - 'we are third in the title race and won't win it, because of our bad summer recruitment, where instead of replacing mahrez or gundo with high class players we decided to rely on a kid like Palmer to save pennies'. Or something along those lines.

We should all take pleasure in Cole's performances - it reflects very well on us and our Academy.
There is no guarantee that this success will continue. There is no guarantee that this success would have come for him in our team. He has gone, and we wish him well. He wanted more game time than we were prepared to give - our level is different to Chelsea - and that happens. Now, I get behind the players who are with us, and celebrate the emerging talents of Oscar Bobb, Rico Lewis, Joel Ndala, Isiah Dada-Mascoll, and others, in the hope that they become, for us, what Cole is, at present, to Chelsea.

A contender for post of the thread.

Playing in an open attacking games as a creative midfielder is different from playing against 2 banks of 5 as our games normally are.

Good luck to Cole. We will never know whether he would have contributed in the long term, all one can do is guess.
