Cole Palmer

"The opinion I had is he wanted to leave, but now I don't know what's going to happen," the City boss said after that game. "I don't think a loan is going to happen. He's going to stay or leave, but I think a loan is not going to happen."

It has since emerged that a loan was Palmer's preference. Reflecting on the move to Chelsea during a January interview with Sky Sports, Palmer said: "My thing was never to leave City. That was not my intention [to leave]. I wanted to go on loan for a year, come back and be ready for the first team but he [Guardiola] said I can't go on loan. You either 'stay or you get sold.'"
Strange as I know someone who was close to him and he told them he asked to leave

I still can't get my head around this making a mistake thing? Cole Palmer wanted to play...he was not going to get that here. He got it at Chelsea, so it obviously worked. People argue that he could have or would have? Doku played 33 games last season including sub appearances in a season where KDB and Haaland were out for sustained periods of time. That is nothing compared to what Cole Palmer played last season. Palmer was unwilling to do the Foden/Rico route so what can you do? He refused to go out on loan, so what are you going to do? How are you going to guarantee gametime? Are you going to knock out KDB, Silva, Haaland, Foden or Grealish?

There’s a 250+ page thread about Gary fucking Neville on this site.

Keeping tabs on one of our Academy products and regretting how his transfer panned out is much less weird than talking about Gary fucking Neville every day, all year, every year.

Nobody goes on there going on about people with a weird Gary fucking Neville obsession though.

There’s a 220+ page thread of Jude fucking Bellingham on this site n’all. A load of fanboys of an absolute **** of a player, the most overhyped footballer I’ve ever seen, whose Dad called City a plastic club. Half the posters on his thread act like they want to stroke him off.

That’s even weirder than the Gary fucking Neville thread.

the timeline not clear to me, were we not balls deep into negotiation for a winger (ended up being Doku) when all this was decided for Palmer. we had Mahrez leaving obv opening up lots of game time on the wing, but not sure if we maybe instead of telling Palmer there is lot of game time maybe we were adamant in an expensive winger brought who is obv higher up in hierarchy than the youngster Palmer.

very few could have seen the immense development he had at Chelsea, out of 30-40 transfer they did this one really worked out for them.40-45m pounds and he is delivering goals, assists almost every game, and a fearless pen taker too.
6 goals, 4 assist for Palmer already in 6 rounds of PL. I would accept that for end of season for Grealish for example, chances are he wont be on 10 in G+A.
he ended up with a very much free role in Chelsea where he is delivering, above expectations.

dont think its impossible for him to come back. maybe not under Pep but he needs to play CL level, and with Chelsea likely to get a points deduction this season, that another year out of CL for them. (or they dont finish top4-top5)
they havent been in CL last season, neither current season, if not even next season I wonder when their better players start making noises. dont they want to be regularly be in CL? (dont get me started on the 9 year contracts lol)

lets hope Bobb can do something similar in 2nd half of the season.
