Though I’d hate to see us lose, I hope if we do sell him to Chelsea, the lad rips us a new one when we face him as a way of sticking two fingers up to those that sold him. I WANT the kid to stay on his feet!

He will cost us at some point. You have to ask why he didn't get more game time if there weren't playing issues, last year!

I hope I'm wrong, but if he doesn't start two of the next 7/8 games and only comes on for the end 10 mins of safe games, there's an issue.

But, we'll see.

How many 18 year old defenders do you know who start even half the games in the league.

Especially for a team that have won consecutive league titles never mind the champions league.

If £45m is accepted, call a RAF jet and send him to Stanford Bridge immediately before Chelsea change their mind. It's impossible to get a higher bid and this lad is never good enough to be a City regular.

I can agree about the fee (it’s decent) sets a precedent for youngsters we are producing, we’ve been quite clever in the way we have grown our sales prices over the last couple of seasons, starting with Adarabioyo at £2M ish, and maybe ending up with CP at £40M plus, we’re like new drug dealers on a patch knocking out cheap gear, then everyone wants a bit of the action, competition is eliminated & we own the market, everyone’s hooked & prices are hiked

"Doubting his potential"?? I didn't say he was crap. I said he wouldn't be with us, long term.

At his age, sure he has potential. The one thing I've said is his playing style with contact. You've all danced around that.

That's funny to me.

He’s still growing and will get stronger as I said, and he may not be with us long term there’s always that chance impossible to know how potential develops. Watching him today though and last season there is nothing to suggest he won’t be with us long term though, and plenty to suggest he could be.

He would, but his wages will jump from £15k a week to over £100k a week. If your sat on a bench then get well paid for it! Lord knows, that's what judges do!

For me part of this comes down to the fact that deep down I feel like it would be amazing to have a team where most of the players are English or or especially local academy players. It just feels more authentic. Like when you see Phil against the rags you understand how much he wants to beat them. Palmer is surely the second or third most exciting prospect to come out of our academy in the last decade. I want him to stay and do well. But I get that pep doesn’t see it like this and he is happy to buy anybody to bring the success.
