Come On Chelsea (match thread)

I don't really believe in fate and destiny but that's the only way I can explain Chelsea winning the Champions League. I mean they are a god awful team with only Drogba really doing the business. They had Barca hit the post 9 times and the worlds best player miss a penalty then go to Munich and get absolutely battered all game and have Robben miss a penalty and somehow pull off the win. Someone was certainly smiling down on Chelsea in that competition.

Congratulations to Chelsea for the cup, but the best part was watching Uli Oeness face at the end of the match.Priceless.

banging on about Chelsea spending money like Neuer, Ribery, Robben, and Gomez were plucked from their Bavarian farm no doubt.

Guillem Balague had a good point on his twitter:

This final will encourage teams to defend and possession football will have to have a rethink - football will grow and adapt again.

Chelseas performances against Barcelona and Bayern Munich may come across to many as anti-football but at the end of the day they won the cup.

Barcelona set the benchmark for a new invigorating style of football in possession football but teams are understanding and learning how to beat them - you always need a plan b if you know you are not strong enough and Chelsea proved this in the Champions League!

Too bad he's full of shit.

Barcelona and Bayern had a combined of 82 shots in 3 games against Chelsea, hitting the woodwork 5 times, having 38 corners, and they missed 2 pens. It's not like Chelsea stopped Barcelona or Bayern from playing, it's down to shit finishing and huge luck that's won it for Chelsea.

They might have made some daylight robbery and have Lady Luck riding on their back along but it's too casual to just write them off.

Underdogs and some other teams will surely start to examine the viability of counter-attacking football against possession football, what with teams like Napoli and Chelsea reaching in the further depths of European football, and in the likes of a football environment where possession football seems to be the way to go.

Counter-attacking football could one day be a dominant strategy.

Chavski weren´t exactly masterful proponents of counter attacking football. Basically hang on and hope - 1 corner all match right at the death saved them. They never looked like scoring. To be a great counter attacking team you have to have a threat going forward.
The worst and luckiest team EVER to win it

Pleased for Boateng.......

You would have had at least 2 more winners medals than you currently do son if you had the bottle to stay and fight for your place.
