Community Shield - 2024/25 | 10 Aug Sat 3pm

Not a single person is ‘expected’ to go to it.

I really don’t get this mentality.. I don’t fancy something, so I’m going to lobby for it to be cancelled.

I won’t be going to the Southport flower show, this or any other year. But I’m quite happy for it to go ahead, so others can enjoy it, if that’s their thing.

I’ve had some great days out and mini trips to pre- season friendlies over the years. Having a friendly at your home ground is almost the literal definition of boring.

If you don’t want to go to a game. Any game. Don’t go. No one cares. I don’t understand your constant badgering for others to also not go.
Badgering you say.......

Each to their own eh !!

I will be going to both :)

Pep never takes the Community Shield seriously so expect at least half a dozen players will not be travelling for this , you can guarantee the Rags will be at full strength and will be treating it like a Champs league final.
Once waistcoat has got England out at the QF stage Im thinking a few players will be back to play in this.

I will be there as always, habit of a lifetime, my team needs me so I rock up.

The only thing I can remember is that there seemed to be more City fans there than United and we won. In those days we took what we could get at Old Trafford.
15k crowd and I reckon we had around 8k there. Had a little run in after the game with some of Stretford's finest when about four rags picked on a blue not realising there were five of us but that we were just walking behind. Down the bottom of Warwick Road or whatever it is called these days near the cricket ground.

Not been to Wembley for this fixture but took in Villa Park and Leicester, which was good

I did all those testimonials at the swamp but can't remember them much (another one was Kevin Moran I think). We didn't have much chance to play them in those days. We always took huge followings there.

A well documented incident on Chester Road also. A couple on here might possibly know a bit more about that.
