Put you money where your mouth is. Last time I checked odds were 4/1 I think. Surely worth at least £25. After today I don't think I'll be betting on anything city related ever again.

Everyone just calm down. The way I see it, we played one of our worst games for awhile, didnt have the best line up, and still almost won. (against one of the best teams in the league) :)

We had more of a first XI/experienced team out there than they did, Tevez and Aguero were the only ones missing, and Tevez may not even be here next season.

They had no Hernandez, Valencia, Fletcher and no Vidic, Ferdinand, Carrick for the second half (they had all gone off when we were up 2-0!) And Berbatov only came on in the 80th odd minute?

They had players like Cleverley, Jones, Smalling, Evans, Anderson, Welbeck out there..

We can hardly say we had a weakened team out there against the best in the league.

As much as it pains me to say we have to admit today we got taught a lesson in winning mentality, take it, use it to our advantage, move on and prepare for next week when the real stuff starts.

A lot of posters seem to think lack of fitness was the problem. If only it was that simple. We're 8 days away from the season starting and we're not fit, I'm sorry I'm not having that. Our lack of pace is killing us( if this had been addressed last year I still believe we could have won the title). Getting super fit will not make a player run faster no matter how hard he trains, you need to be naturally quick to begin with. Like him or loathe him at this stage, Tevez needs to be persuaded to stay. we never worked their centre halfs at all. Balotelli can fuck off back to Italy. He's nowhere near as good as the hype would have you believe. A disgrace of a footballer in my opinion. And finally joes distribution doesn't help when we're under the cosh. Needs to improve.

We lost 2 things today, a pre season football game to the prem champions and Cl runners up and a bit of pride,bet hey that look on chuckles face in the studio just on half time was well worth it..oh and the fact that de gea doesnt like shots from outside the box,prem clubs take note !!

Yep - we got Clichy'd. He lets it bounce and nods it to Vinnie or he lets it bounce, chest traps it and loops it back to Joe. Two easy choices to take all the danger out of the moment. Inexplicably he instead veers away leaving a baffled VK in a do-or-die situation. VK died. Miserably. Tell you what tho' - VK knows about Clichy now - and without costing us in a points in the table.

There was, at the time, nobody on our left wing and so Clichy had nothing to protect. Agree Vinny's attempted clearance was not the best but had Clichy come across to the ball (and he was nearest) Vinny would have been able to go back and protect Joe. Just don't see it as 100% VK's fault or near.

I posted after the Milan game that I was concerned at signs of over confidence/cockiness with kompany and hart. That's what happened.

But overall we were very poor throughout . We lost the midfield battle even though they were 4-4-2 and every time we won the ball we gave it them back.

We weren't beaten by a better team, we were beaten by a team who played better. Man for man I don't think many of their 11 are better than ours.

But ferguson won the tactical battle hands down I'm afraid. They used width to stretch us and dominated the
Midfield and the possession .

It's only a friendly of course but it was concerning if not disasterous. We are miles better than we played today, I don't think they are.

Oh well we have lost our first pre season match, we can only get better. Hopefully no one will play that bad again, to be honest I don't know how we were 2 up at halftime and then the second half got worse by the minute.
The lads have not become bad players overnight so let's all give them a chance to show that last season was only the start of the rise of the Bluemoon.
Bring on Swansea and let's get the season started.
