Complaint to BBC regarding Pete the Badge

Don't know I'm sure somebody possibly pb said it'd been used before and also that the wording from bertie and been changed afterwards on the MOTD post.

The impression I had was that it was an older picture bought caption-less and used on an earlier day as well.

Pb is like a dog with a bone so I guess it'll all come out eventually.

If it is of any help in your escalation, the agency that holds copyright of the image in question appears to be Press Association images. It is easily found by going to www.paimages.co.uk and using the search term "Manchester City fan". It's on the first page of images. The text associated with the image on the site is pasted below...

There is no inclusion of the word "Bertie". Indeed, if you search www.paimages.co.uk with the word "Bertie", the image of Pete is not found.

Assuming the pics are the same, that confirms the BBC did add the caption. W@nkers.

The original MOTD tweet was on 5 Feb, the same day the PA image was taken. I don't know how to post images and so hopefully someone will put them up side by side.
Incidentally, the image was also used by The Sun, The Mirror and The Daily Mail, according to google images, without any offensive terms.

No mention of his name, real or dubbed either and certainly no congrats for his long support or the 'mirrored' comments from blues

Well done

I love you! Marry me and have my babies. We've got the bastards bang to rights.

just had a response to complaint #2 (of 4) re Simon Stone attending a commercial launch event for Tag Heuer at The Etihad. And guess what? It's another load of bullshit. I queried why the BBC were tweeting images from a launch event and effectively advertising on behalf of one of the rags' sponsors when there was no newsworthy element that I could see.

I’ve raised your complaint with our team at BBC Sport and they’ve asked me to pass their response onto you:

“Simon attended the event on business for BBC Sport, and received no personal benefit for his attendance. In our view, coverage of the event was clearly editorially justified given the continued commercial growth of United and the story around it.

“The BBC takes its responsibility to the editorial guidelines extremely seriously, but there will always be occasions where we cover a commercial event because it offers an editorial value to our audience.”

We’re sorry that you’ve had cause for concern.

Kind regards

Katherine's going to be sick of me before long.
