Well I’m not sure. Ok they haven’t the physicality or stamina but that’s ok as they don’t want to be the female equivalent of Burnley (pre Vinnie of course). I saw some exceptional skill. The first against Germany was assisted by our very own Keira Walsh with a sublime ball that KDB would have been proud of. The scorer, Toone, made a beautifully timed run and then 1 on 1 lobbed the keeper. I know of some recently departed male players that would have been very proud of that finish.Well done to them, well deserved. You would think it will have a positive impact on womens football in England in terms of viewership but I wouldn’t be so sure though. With the premier league starting this weekend and world cup coming up, all eyes will be back on that.
Probably inspired plenty of young girls to play though.
Gotta be honest though, the quality of play is mostly dreadful still at this point. But if it’s inspiring new generations of young players, it’ll only get better. The quality in the likes of womens MMA shot up rapidly when it was getting good backing.
Where as womens tennis for example doesn’t have a gulf in ability between men and women. I know the women can’t beat the men because of physical advantages, but relatively speaking, the skill level of male and female tennis is an excellent standard on both sides. Womens football isn’t there yet, but I think it’ll improve rapidly, it already has been.

Shhhh it's good for the marketingYes many congratulations to England did the whole country proud
Might be me but I hate this "lionesses" tag we don't call the men lions
When do we start calling the men’s team “The Lions”Yes it’s you.
It’s their nickname. They can call themselves whatever they want. The joys of living in a democracy. When do we start calling the men’s team “The Lions”
Fucking bullshit nonsense
And it is good marketing. People will think what they will of it but when the population hears "Lionesses" they know exactly who is being referenced. It’s their nickname. They can call themselves whatever they want. The joys of living in a democracy.
Btw I’ve heard the England team referred to as the 3 Lions

The game is now officially Sold Out after less than 24 hours!
IT annoys me that not one mention has been made of her service to the team, Jill and Ellen who played got special recognition but not one word for Steph.Steph is a City legend but no longer could enough for England I’m afraid. Definitely worth a shout out though.
Yes Steph should be mentioned in the same breath as Kelly Smith but the British Scousewashing Corporation (Gooners for Women) promote their own.IT annoys me that not one mention has been made of her service to the team, Jill and Ellen who played got special recognition but not one word for Steph.
There's a few paragraphs yet to be written on this matter. Steph has been excluded from the latest England squad. Wiegmann has adopted the old managerial cop out by suggesting 'the door remains open'! If Steph is fully fit, which I think she is, then I cannot see, comparing the rest of the defence, why she isn't included. I think Wiegmann has a system that puts Williamson at the heart of the defence, so no room for Steph. Why not on the bench? More to this than hits the RDAHMeedya gossip pages.IT annoys me that not one mention has been made of her service to the team, Jill and Ellen who played got special recognition but not one word for Steph.

True, but there should be a place on the England bench for her. The experience she will bring to the dressing room would be immense. I fear that Wiegmann wants to bring a close to her England career as she doesn't see her taking a CB berth, and doesn't want to be the bearer of grim news. Instead there's the old cop out of stringing a player along with the notion that 'the door remains open' but ne'er the opportunity of walking through, and waits for the player to announce her retirement from international football. I think if the entire CB first choices went down with beri-beri she still would find alternatives to Steph. I don't know, but I have a feeling that Steph has always been outspoken and speaks her mind, something that might grate on a few.But she's started the last two city games on the bench and only played 13 minutes against Real Madrid. I doubt she's going to be considered for England until she's started some games for us.
Wiegmann was thinking more for the future I think. Had Wubben-Moy and Carter as backup defenders to give them experience of an international tournament as well as Greenwood if she needed more experience. Can't really argue with any of her selections seeing as we won the thing. She has her own trusted coaching staff so why add in another voice to that mix so late? Not much room for sentiment in football anymore.True, but there should be a place on the England bench for her. The experience she will bring to the dressing room would be immense.
