Apparently it's on the same frequency as black boxes transmit, so it's promising.

However, the last few weeks have all been about flying planes over the site. Then in the last day or so the media reported they were going to started using these signal detectors and a day or so later they pick up a signal.

Surely these detectors have been in the sea for the last few weeks already??

Going by the way the things been handled, they probably lost/forgot about the signal detectors until yesterday.
