COP26

it only takes a couple of minutes to fill my gas guzzler up for a week, if you think the queues for petrol were bad wait until youv'e got people looking to charge their cars up if they don't have a charging point at home when theres about 40million cars on the road. It's all well and good if they sort out the infrastructure but there doesn't seem to be any rush at the moment
Absolutely true. There is no rush. I have said before that there are many, many occasions that your car is sat around, away from home, when it could be plugged in charging; like when you go to work or out shopping for the day or, even, when you are sat at the game. Loads of opportunities but we lack the infrastructure to do it. Things are changing. I see every day places like supermarkets, mall, car parks putting in charging points; indeed Nottingham park n ride has long rows of charging points. Things are changing.

He won't be around to see any of his grand announcements come to fruition anyway.

He should focus on the immediate namely immigration levels , covid 19 , the recovery , reducing electricity prices , crime , health and education for starters rather than some ideology which everyone knows is just a soundbite.
But that would involve getting off his fat arse and doing his job. instead of just dressing up for photo ops and coming up with the hare brained ideas. Its like me walking into the office ignoring my in tray and talking bollocks all day with the MD and telling his where the company should go. At some point you have to do your job this **** just takes the piss and fucks everything up. even more just like Trump did.

I think you might not be that far off the mark Mike D , trouble is he like Trump thought they actually were doing a good job just like all sociopaths do even despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

A few years ago before he met up with his latest piece of fluff as he would describe her he was still the same but wasn't as woke or as weak and wealthy than he is now.

he isn't committed to anything of national importance only interested in photo ops and drivel speeches as you allude to.

Only the unions are keeping the nutters from appearing and turning it into a bigger farce.

Russia and China not coming that care little for their people laughing at the rest as they continue to do what they want.

We can trust them to commit to Net Zero what ever that means by 2050 yea good luck with that one.

Putin has the EU and the UK by the short and curlies and it will only get worse as living standards of the working and middle class deteriorate.

As Peter Garrett of Midnight Oil said the rich get richer the poor get the picture.

FFS thousands of politicians and leaders telling us all why we need to buy and electric vehicle , what type of appliances to put in out homes , what to eat , what to drink , how to live and how to die as they chew up the CO2.

We need to fight for our rights and our own country but sadly turfing them out at the ballot box will give us more of the same just a name change.

Cat Stevens sang about it 50 years ago to the day and nothing has changed.

I agree with some of what you saying but disagree and Johnson thinks he's doing a great job too. He doesn't have empathy and as for equality that's like apartheid for him in that he's never had struggles or experience anything only his own privileged life. This is all a game to him just like when he played in Macbeth and stuck post it notes all around the stage with his lines on.

He's a dangerous man in the that the general public are being gas lighted into believing the pandemics over and Brexit is the best thing that ever happens to this country. I am just hoping that people start to wake up and smell the coffee, because this rewiring of the country is gonna be hard to fix once he's finished. Some of these deals with Australia, NZ and Japan are shockingly bad and flies in the face of any idea of us reaching net zero when we're doing deals with countries half way around the world.

I think you raise some good points Mike and I agree he is dangerous and people like him have to go but my concern is the replacement might be Boris in disguise without the window dressing.

People have woken up to him many in his own party but few are willing to call him out because of what will happen to them.

No different to our " Conservative Government " two years ago they won an election on technology not taxes but now they have in effect done a back flip with no guarantees to farmers , manufacturing , miners and the list goes on about job security , community security , food security , geo political security and I could go on and expect us to vote for them in 6 months time.

We don't even have nuclear to draw on and its legislated and while we need to cut emissions the way we are going about it will send us down the garden path on the road to nowhere.

I also agree with the deals made as well they are bad for both.

These deals on CO2 emission reduction are only going to fund the multinationals and the super rich and their cohorts and they are not good at giving any back to those who make them rich.

good paying jobs will become insecure lower paying jobs.

if the deal stacks up let them invest without tax payer money.

Shuffling money with carbon credits for abatement give me a break , no one wants to pay more for electricity especially the lower wage owners who can least afford it.

is there a party out there with the balls to reverse this nonsense, heat pumps my arse, who can afford an electric car, where do you charge it at home, where's all the extra electricity coming from, fuckin windmills,i don't think so, whoever scraps this bollocks gets my vote next.
What a comfort getting your vote

You could start the new Anti-Green party. You’d probably get half the over 60+ vote. Those with pink cheeks.

The infrastructure has barely been scratched - shopping centre near me - parking for 500 cars and a row of 4 chargers - what happens if 500 electric cars want to park there and charge whilst they are waiting? At present what happens is the other 496 can drive a quarter of a mile to a Tesco filling station.

I am tempted to say ‘what a load of sh1te’ but I won’t as I am to much of a gentleman. Let me know when 500 EV turn up to be charged at your local shopping centre and I will answer your question. Read my comments.

I would look up supply and demand for the obvious answer.
