Ironically the BBC news just gave me a perfect analogy regarding City!

They referred to United scoring 9 and Manchester City 'are top - just' .

What they failed to add in clarification is that even after scoring 9 City are still + 5 ahead in goal difference and have played two fewer games.

It is the same principle - you say what you say in the way that you say it to create the impression that you want people to take from it - even if telling the full story might tell them something different.

People were just stating that by using the term ”offered” it meant that there might still be a proportion of the over 80’s who choose not to have the vaccine, might be BAME over 80”s for example who don’t feel safe. Is that the government’s fault if they are offered a jab but refuse?

Of course it isn't - but how is that relevant?

For information like this the ONLY thing that matters is how many have been vaccinated and how many have not. Regardless of why the ones who have not have not. Though if that number of have nots is high it needs explaining if it proves significantly higher than elsewhere.

I was not at all missing this point - but as noted above ref the BBC and City - when you use words to create an impression rather than to clarify the actual reality you can manipulate things to what you want people to see.

Either by accident or design. It can be either. But it remains imperfect information.

With this data we need the actual numbers not a number that leaves you missing half the truth.

Also homes with active cases will also have an effect on the ability to vaccinate residents.

I suspect that is the case really, Scotland and England have very different ethnic populations, and my wife works with a number who aren't having the vaccine because of their ethnicity, so it's quite likely that England will have a far bigger percentage of people refusing it on those grounds, though why they can't be transparent about it I've no idea.

Presumably they have a record of how many didn't take the "offered" vaccine? Even just a percentage uptake figure would be informative.

Outraged me that. Liked how a gentleman asked if Mr Witty was ok half way through. He could clearly see what was going on.
I saw it on GMB, and just before it they were paying tribute to Sir Tom. The absolute difference between the two is immeasurable.
