Let’s try it out.

Created a general discussion thread to split away from stats and science.

General chat, I have covid do I need to isolate etc.

Not sure what to do today given the other thread.

But decided to just post one thing to give you highlights of the day,

As they will be a lot more cheerful than those on Match of the Day so might help lighten your mood.

HERE GOES:

DEATHS

166 - UP 31 from 135 last Saturday

England 138 UP from 125 last Saturday

CASES

41, 278 cases - down 2189 on yesterday & DOWN 3707 on last Saturday.

36, 204 of them were in England - DOWN 649 on yesterday & DOWN 5055 on last weekend

NORTH WEST

4524 cases - DOWN 617 on yesterday & DOWN 35 on last Saturdays 4559

GREATER MANCHESTER

1535 cases today -. DOWN 273 of that 617 on yesterday. Which is reasonably good.

33.9% of the NW total - lower split than yesterday. Also good.

Versus last week - DOWN 154 from 1689 - 119 MORE than the entire region falls. Very good.

The split then was 37,0% GM v NW so todays 33.9% is well down.

Manchester top scored on 208 - DOWN 63 on last week

Oldham
was the lowest scorer on 81 - DOWN 46 on last wk

IN BETWEEN

Wigan 188 - DOWN 8 on wk, Trafford 161 - DOWN 62 on wk, Rochdale 174 - UP 14 on last wk, Bury 153 - UP 25 on last wk - Stockport 152 - DOWN 37 on wk, Bolton 147 -UP 13 on wk, Tameside 137 - DOWN 11 on wk, Salford 134 - UP 21 on wk

Very good day for the region and Greater Manchester with Stockport doing really well and with a Pop Score of just 51 gains another 17 back on Trafford in the overall lowest score - now 353 ahead.

The worst score today was from Bury who clocked up 81 Pop Score points. And has one more case than Stockport which would hve been unimagibable a couple of weeks ago.

SO SOME THINGS TO CHEER YOU UP A BIT TONIGHT. UNLESS YOU LIVE IN BURY PERHAPS.

That’s a perfect summary, and imo all that is required nowadays.

Really appreciate everything you’ve done over the last 18 or so months.

By the way, I did say it’s noticeably & definitely busier at our covid testing station in Rammy.

That's certainly encouraging, and I'm not even bothering with MOTD! Thanks so much for the info!

@Healdplace please don’t take the new thread personally. There has been a lot of thread derailing recently and comments. Thought the other thread would help limit derailing and keep this thread for discussing stats and science etc.

Not very much change in any direction.

Netherlands reporting 8,219 new cases today, and the seven day average is 93 persons admitted to hospital and 18 persons admitted to ICU. Some 80% of those in ICU are unvaccinated. Government is expected to announce new measures this Tuesday.

It was there a couple of hours ago. No idea why it has gone. Using that one for general chat on Covid and this just for numbers that most no longer want to read was fine by me. As anyone could be directed to here to look if they asked about numbers on the general thread.

I could just post a daily numbers post in one thread. Though if I do the nations daily AND the hospital headlines Monday to Friday - the former asked for the latter the most important numbers of all this winter - then it will be bigger than the one single posr I post last night. So it is about finding the balance.

Hence the three nations numbers I posted separtely when asked to post them.

But maybe the MODs just want one thread on Covid as long as I only post the daily summary not multiple data posts into it.

As I have said I will do whatever I am asked. No preference. Happy to go with the flow.

Sorry to have created such a problem for everyone.

Think the other one will have disappeared for a tidy up due to some squabbling.

Was just reading about how Israel is creating new rules to attempt to open up to more tourists and was struck by a couple of things. Firstly, all visitors now have to arrive via Ben Gurion airport, even though there are three international airports in Israel. Secondly, there is the following requirement in regard to vaccination.
  • At least 14 days have passed since the individual received two shots of these vaccines or a booster and no more than 180 days
Made me wonder if other countries will make such a requirement and whether that will have an effect on having to give boosters to everyone.

No idea why people get so exercised about exactly what is posted as long as it's not the conspiracy nut jobs. I appreciate some of the local stats @Healdplace brings, and it's no problem to skip whatever doesn't interest me. I prefer everything together rather than separate threads, but not massively arsed either way.

Anyway, speaking of conspiracy nutjobs, the JCVI have issued minutes of their last few meetings (much later than they normally do...).

A seriously dysfunctional group who actually discussed whether using children as a vector for adult infection with delta would be a good thing. Which is about as unethical as it's possible to be.

Should be a major scandal.

I will still just post a single post as promised but when I have the other data to add into it will delete this one, add the new data and repost it updated so it stays only as a single post.
