Agreed. What kind of mad head goes to a nightclub on a Monday?

When I was on leave from the navy in the late seventies/early eighties I was out seven nights a week. I was lucky as I had mates on leave the same time as me so we never had to get up in the morning. I must admit some Monday and Tuesday's used to be a bit dead in the clubs but we had a laugh. Sunday's we used to go to that snooker club near the Ritz that was open all night.

HOSPITAL DATA



Summary:

UK patients just 965 (media still missed the UK under 1000 news!) in hospital with Covid.

Decent fall in the day - more than last Friday - and no sign of the North West going the other direction. Though it s only falling by ones and twos now which MIGHT be a factor. We will see.

There are also now single figure numbers on ventilators ( just 9) in the other three home nations bar England added together. And under 150 patients now too in the three nations combined.

Patients down to 965 - it was 39, 248 at the peak on 18 Jan - (fall of 38, 283 in 116 days) :- lowest since 14 September

Ventilators down to 124 it was 4077 at the peak on 24 Jan - (fall of 3953 in 110 days) : lowest since 17 September


England only:-


ADMISSIONS:-

93 Covid admissions following 79, 76, 76, 80, 77, 88, 96 in the week before.

As you see daily Covid admission numbers in England under 100 consistently. No uptick as yet.

Patients down by 27 to 818 v 973 last week :- lowest since 14 September

Peak was 34, 336 on 18 Jan (fall 33, 518 in 116 days)

Ventilators: Down 4 to 115 v 145 last week :- lowest since 17 September

Peak was 3736 on 24 Jan (fall 3621 in 110 days)

I think the vast majority of youngsters was looking forward to doing that on the 21st..going to be pissed if its delayed..

Disappointed with the response.

I'm baffled as to how the best use of vaccines is for people who are largely immune to become even more immune when the people most likely to transmit it aren't immune at all.

I guess they want to stop hospitalisations and deaths even if that means accepting rising cases.

But I agree I would protect everyone by getting cases down through vaccinating the ones who are catching it right now because they are unvaccinated.

Can only assume this is the guidance being given not a political decision.

Or maybe that was the reason for the press conference lengthy delay tonight as scientists tried to persuade Boris and the man from del monte said no. Something was obviously holding it up for over an hour.

they probably won’t know all they need to about the vaccine until it’s trial ends in 2023 and gets FDA approved

i think its a gamble when opening the doors to the other countries so soon. it should be a lot hard to get in and out of the uk. and a longer time scale for a covid free passport plus longer timescale of quarantine and hard punishemnts in breaking the rules. the indian variant is a big problem for the uk and could set us back a year again

i have a feeling the goverment are using the people that have had the vaccine as test dummies knowing the spread of this indian covid variant is happening ? boris has said no fears in its beating the vaccines. but the spread and how it spreads quckily is unknown and the warning bells in bolton and scotland are only small ??

the virus is airborne and can live longer than the others and the truth is nobody know how far in the air it can travel
also the people in the bolton are going to other towns for work and meetting other people and family

i said yesterday a 3rd wave is happening right now ? the goverment know about it and want to use the vaccine and the people as a test because its still unkown if it can work in keep the numbers down

It's an odd one because as soon as the variant has been detected in an area they begin surge testing which must be treated differently from PCR testing. The reason why is vaccinated people may test positive in a surge area whereas how many people are ill enough to present for PCR tests, virtually no-one and daily PCR positive cases are flat.

The variant may well be more transmissible but we need to move away from obsessing over cases and move towards the real time data available on moderate/severe illness and hospitalisations which is key. We'll know soon if the vaccines are working because if they aren't then hospitalisations will rise any day now in surge areas.

A 3rd wave can only be confirmed if there is a rise in PCR positive cases and a rise in COVID hospitalisations but so far neither is happening.

Yeah I think the way we’ve let people in has been a joke, unfortunately I do think this new variant could well set us back a year
