Coronavirus (2021) thread

Makes you wonder why pretty much every government across the planet - not just ours - has treated this as a real threat then. Perhaps we should’ve adopted the “don’t give a fuck” attitude of the Brazilian government eh? Only the 3400 or so Covid deaths there yesterday, and ICU capacity at or near 100% capacity across the whole country.
Quite. Let the virus rip and it kills more so than 1918 flu. Only modern medicine keeps the death rate lower and if there are no beds then most of those who need hospitalisation die. Assuming 75% (low estimate) then back in January that would have been nearly 3k a day in the UK. A whole average flu season in 3.5 days.

Scotland data:

0 deaths - was 0 last week (Sunday data of course)

422 cases - was 532 last week

2.6% positive - was 2.9% last week

264 patients - down 19 on yesterday - was 344 last week

22 icu ventilated - down 4 on yesterday - was 31 last week

Good numbers here today.

If you bothered to read threads from the beginning you would see that official data has been quoted several times together with their origins. And don't patronise with I value all opinions when you clearly don't. I was asking what point you were trying to make in your post? You must consider the question mark as being crucial in understanding what was said.
Do not get upset i do value other opinions just the ones with some input, as i never learn anything otherwise, and needless to say i have not read this thread from the beginning, i am not a morbid grave digger.

Scottish vaccination update:

2, 385, 709 first doses - 26, 902 today - was 35, 975 yesterday & 34, 160 last week

312, 320 second doses - 17, 606 today - was 14, 900 yesterday & 8916 last week

The EU has certainly blown trust out out if the window. Johnson & Johnson are now having problems with the EU as well.
There seems to be plenty of leaks.

Hopefully, the required doses will be delivered on time. These potential hiccups shows the strength of the U.K. strategy of buying lots of doses from a variety of providers and working with companies to increase manufacturing capacity in the U.K.

To be fair, some of us probably think the same when we read your posts on this thread.
Ah the plural so you are ganging up on me :) If i was supplied with the information i would be satisfied but all i get on here is BBC rhetoric which is trash apart from the death rate, and even that is embellished, does no one want to think for themselves and question where all the other figures are?

England ages of the deaths are interesting. The low number exaggerates of course.

0 - 19 (1)

40 - 59 (4)

60 -79 (9)

80 PLUS (9)

A very long time since all age ranges were under 10.

Did not work out the full % as it is a bit misleading at this low a number but 5 out of 23 under 60 is over 20% as you can see. And BOTH the upper age ranges are under 40% for first time too.

Please never complain about not having the data again.

England hospital deaths:- All regions in single figures and 3 deaths in NW Anglia and 2 in Buckinghamshire are the only trusts with more than a single death in England today. That is a long time since I have seen this too.

Sunday data is always low due to registration difficulties at weekend (same with Monday) but relatively the drop in deaths remains startlingly obvious.

You don’t get only “BBC rhetoric” on here. What you do get are multiple excellent daily updates from @Healdplace and her data is bang up to date - much more so than the BBC who often report days old data - and as such anyone with half a brain cell can look at that information which continues to show a downward trend in all the serious categories which in turn gives us grounds for optimism. Yet the way you bang on, you think we’re all doom and gloom merchants. I’d actually say that most of the doom and gloom merchants are you and your tin foil hat wearing mates who are desperate for us to remain in lockdown forever more just so you can claim that you were right and it was a global conspiracy all along.

That is a pretty stark rebuttal for those that still say Covid is nothing more than a bit of flu - hopefully quite few in number these days compared to a year ago.
