Have spoken to lots of people last few days that I know.
Some in their 40s, 30s and even one in their 20s.
All with no health issues and all from Trafford and all said they got a jab appointment and all said that they have had their 1st dose!

I'm 45 and have to wait but I am hearing more and more of these stories of people seemingly cheating the system, with no checks before hand and getting vaccinated, one guy I run with who's 48 said in Timperley he was the oldest person at the centre when he went last week.
How is this allowed to happen And how are people getting away with it?
I'm more than happy to wait and I'm.not being a mard arse but this is really starting to piss me off.
I buy into the priority queue and I think it's wrong to jump it even if you can. You are one of the decent 95% who just wouldn't jump a queue.

It's disappointing to hear about the J&J struggles and that probably reflects the challenges of producing Covid vaccines. I hope J&J resolve the problems soon.

IMHO. if that was AZ the Americans would be demonising the company. Many posters on here are quick to slaughter to EU Countries but some don't say boo to a goose when it comes to the States.
I think the supply will come on stream soon but all the talk about up-front manufacturing at risk was a load of nonsense and not enough national preparation for vaccine production has been done.

Ideologically the West doesn't buy into state intervention so they left it to private companies, and of course, they did nothing. So after the vaccines were authorised there was little infrastructure in place despite the whole world waiting desperately for months for vaccine.

I agree with most of what you say. I heard the Vaccines President of GSK on Radio 5 earlier in the week and the main lesson from the pandemic for them is that they will run production facilities at around 40% in future (outside pandemic times) so that they can quickly scale up production to respond to pandemics. He said it's too difficult and time consuming to scale up from a standing start.

Our Government says it's about private companies but nations are important to vaccine development and roll out as discussed on here. For example, Oxford were steered to partner with AZ. Yes, the nature of contracts are very important and many of the companies are multi-nationals but politics are a factor and they often reflect national interests.

Yes I wouldn't dream of it but it will really fuck me off if vaccine passports become the norm across the board and these "cheats" get to do stuff & go abroad before the ones who have waited - this looks the way it is going.

As usual, beuracracy slows things down.
The EU's desire to pass the buck for it's vaccinaton failure and to punish Britain for it's successful vaccine rollout has resulted in a general slow down of vaccine production and delivery for everyone in the EU.
Who would have thought that could possibly happen?

Absolutely this. Hearing a lot of the same stories. People I know.
I am in the same boat.
Trafford, 40's, and actually do care for someone. Yet I wouldn't dream of jumping the queue.
Starting to piss me off too.

The risk was to begin manufacture before completion of P3 clinical trials which is where something in the region of 70+% of all drug candidates die.
The clinical trial results which signalled the ability to move forward were announced in Nov 2020 and regulatory approval was first given in late December 2020. Between these 2 dates you've to produce a minimum of 4 batches (1 establishment and 3 validation) and test to full release specification which takes in the region of 55 days. This has to be done at every single site you plan to manufacture from. There also needs to be concurrent stability studies to make sure the end point users know how to store it. Production and testing began without knowing the clinical trial results and was therefore done at risk.

The infrastructure can't be built over night, not even within months. It needs to be built because outside of a viral pandemic there is little appetite for the specialist equipment needed to create vaccines in the west as we aren't really under threat from them.

Well that’s not queue jumping if you are a carer, get yourself booked in.

Yep it seems it's absolutely rife, and even people actually being happy that they have bent the rules!!
I will really be very angry if these twats get to go abroad and do stuff before the ones who have to wait to get done - the age range that who arguably have worked through the most over the past year.
I am really fucking angry about this issue, it's disgraceful.

Some GP surgeries are just working their way through their lists by age so if they have fewer patients in say the 70+ age then whilst others are still jabbing that age group they have moved on. GP surgeries are just cracking on with it. I know of people in their early 50’s in Trafford who have had both jabs already. Not cheated the system, they just have a very efficient GP

I think a bigger worry with lying about one's status to queue jump is that for each person who does it, someone in a more vulnerable/at risk category is going to be denied a jab that little bit longer, and therefore it could potentially cost someone their life.

The article is a bit confusing and refers to Pfizer's ability to export vaccines outside the EU as well as receive ingredients that could slow down supplies in the EU.

Maybe their surgeries have reached that age group, maybe they have underlying health conditions, maybe they are claiming something they are not, maybe the clinic is using up doses at the end of the day. There may be other reasons but maybe you should either ask the clinic where they are having them done or ask the people to show proof of their jab and when done ask them how when you are still waiting. Sorry I can’t be of more help. I actually knew someone my age who had both jabs three weeks before I had even had my first. It’s frustrating, I get it but no point losing sleep over it. You can’t be that far away from receiving your first jab

UK £37Billion, privatised track and trace shown to be a waste of money in the main. Part of the problem has been people unwilling or unable to self isolate as discussed previously on here.

True but I don't believe a word this goverment says anymore or the dates they mention.

I would say they have been pretty spot on with the vaccine rollout and timeline for restrictions to lift. But if you choose not to act then there isn’t a lot anyone can do. Fingers crossed you can book a jab soon.

Unable maybe partially due to loss of wages etc whereas unwilling is due to selfishness or is it the other way around. Just look at the scenes last couple of days from Platt Fields and Castlefields last night. Unbelievable the actions of these people. Just what is going on in their heads. Probably nothing and that’s the problem. Should water cannon the lot using an ink that stay on skin for four weeks then everyone will know what twats we have to share oxygen with. Bit radical I know but I reckon it might make people think twice.
