Me too. I have moved up so much because I am under 70 that I will at this rate probably be over 70 before I get it because I was under 70 when they calculated.

You have got to laugh.

Actually, when I mean up, I mean it has come closer to where it was the first time I checked.
First it was April, second it was September and now it’s May. I hope it gets down to March so I can go away.

Could be that Scotland managed to lock down sufficiently just before the new variant could take hold; restricting travel in from England may have helped suppress its movement.
Might also mean that it is only working its way through the community more slowly, which could lead to problems arising later.

In the meantime though it should in theory provide more time for the vaccine rollout to take place to the most vulnerable, and if/when it properly takes off up here the repercussions may not be so catastrophic. One would hope this is a possibility.

Matt Hancock tells him some unnecessary training modules have been removed - including fire safety, terrorism and others.

"We made this change as of this morning and I'm glad to say it's in force."

The seven mass vaccination centres set to open next week have been outlined - with venues in London, Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Surrey and Stevenage.

The prime minister's official spokesman told a Westminster briefing that the centres would include Robertson House in Stevenage; the ExCel Centre in London; the Centre for Life in Newcastle and the Etihad Tennis Centre in Manchester.

The other three are Epsom Downs Racecourse in Surrey; Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol and Millennium Point in Birmingham

Covid is ~10x more deadly.

I said really bad I don't wish to undermine it but believe it or not if it was as deadly as some flu strains we have had it would wipe out more than died from the Spanish flu 100 years ago.

this beast of a thing just transmits far more readily.

More on todays figures

NHS England say that another 674 people have died in England with COVID-19.

Patients were aged between 21 and 101. All except 29 (aged between 50 and 101) had known underlying health conditions.

The deaths were between 11 November and 5 January.

I fear it is coming down age groups now and in fitter people

Vaccines absolutely can eliminate COVID, by proxy of stopping transmission. The more prevalent the virus is, the more reproduction it is doing and thus the more mutations (strains) appear.

I am no expert but its a little like wiping out the common cold another covid.

We have eliminated smallpox as far as I know an amazing feat if true.

Of the 2039 cases in Scotland today

290 are in people aged 65+, inclusive of 76 aged 85+ and 103 aged 75-84

128 are children under the age of 15, 31 of whom are under 5.

340 are aged 15-24, with 117 of those from the 15-19 bracket and 223 from the 20-24 bracket.

1277 of the cases are in the large age group of 20-64.


***Deaths***

The 68 deaths were from the following age groups

25 people aged 85+
20 people aged 75-84
12 aged 65-74
11 aged 45-64

That’s part of the mandatory training for most folk working in the NHS. What’s your problem with 1/2 a days paid training to allow someone to administer a potentially fatal vaccine?

The chief of the Royal College of Nursing was on the news last night saying the hoops were ridiculous. I suppose he has a beef with the NHS too?

And it’s just been announced that they are removing some of the more ‘ridiculous’ requirements for the volunteers.

I raised the issue last week and have had it the neck from all those hard of thinking.

Am I missing something? Surely you have to be proven negative to go away?

As far as I’m aware you can’t enter France for love nor money.
Even if I could I’m more inclined to hunker down and stay safe.

But if I can have a vaccine in March I will already begin to feel safer and think about going away at last.
