Fingers crossed! June seems a long way off currently though. This rain carries on and we will need an ark more than a Covid jab!

It does and I don’t think I’ve wanted the spring to come quickly as much as I do this year! Mid to long term though, personally I’m feeling very comfortable about it all. Just got to get though these next few months.
 
The Four nation % of population who have had at least the first dose of the vaccine as of last night are:

Wales 3.2% Scotland 3.5% England 4% and N Ireland 4.8%

The UK population % vaccinated with at least one shot is just under 4.0%

That is 2, 639, 309 in total.

There are 428, 232 of the above people who have also now had BOTH shots in the UK.

But you cannot count these as extra people in the % numbers, of course.

However, the total number of actual jabs since 8 December is now 3, 067 ,541

Stuff like this annoys me from the government. It’s always a delay to everything. Whether it’s lockdown, tier systems, closing things down. This covid situation is getting more worrying in the UK at the moment. I felt optimistic but it’s draining quick

Totally agree,I just saw the article on the BBC site.

"Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said via Twitter that the government wanted to give people time to prepare."

The virus won't take a weekend break to "give people time to prepare". Fucking stupid.
 
After the good news of the vaccine numbers on a more sobering note to end the day. And to warn we are not coming out of this yet.

On January 12 (yesterday) - 126 deaths were recorded ON that day within the first 24 hours and reported today.

That is the highest number for the actual day before it is reported in 9 months.

It is actually higher than the number recorded on the day back in early April that recorded the highest England hospital death numbers at the peak of that wave.

Jan 11 was the first where over 100 on the day before reporting were added since 24 April which occurred as that first wave quickly subsided and we have never seen since. Until the last two days.

And the numbers for every day after day 1 have also been going up alarmingly fast since Christmas.

Scientists do not think this wave will subside as fast this time as the one did in April because it is winter and the n it was Spring and we may also not even yet be at the peak of this wave.

Here are the numbers since Christmas Eve showing the Covid deaths reported IN ENGLAND HOSPITALS ONLY for day 1 - just 24 hours after the death - and the numbers added on to each date on the second day.

The last number is the current total who died in England hospitals on that day as of now - as more and more keep getting added to every day now even weeks later as there are so many.

That's not acceptable really, we're never getting our freedoms back at this point.
 
Not sure if it's mentioned above but there are press reports (Mail I think) that UK has taken delivery of 21m vaccine doses.

If that report is true then get them in vials, check them and go 24/7 and widen eligibility at night time to ensure that the vaccine gets from vials to humans asap. Just a suggestion before you bite my head off!
 
For those who have had the Rona on here, has anyone knowingly waited more than seven days for symptoms to appear? I ask because tomorrow will be day seven of quarantine for me, so far so good but I definitely had close contact with someone last week who tested positive on Monday

Absolutely this. Get it going round the clock, the sooner we are all jabbed the quicker some sort of normality returns as well as the economy

A lady who works for me had a contact and was self isolating, she developed symptoms on day 9. Therefore, had to isolate a further 10 days.

Yeah I bet it is, young Gaz has been going in school still with me and his mum being classed as key workers he said there's only 6 kids in in his year (11) I bet you never thought you'd miss running round trying to deal with 30 kids needs every hour :) 4 or 5 of his football team that I coach go to Newman mostly good lads of course!

This is a problem for early April but hopefully by then vaccine supply will have increased and the Johnson & Johnson single shot vaccine will be up and running.

If we vaccinate on average 2 million people a week for 11 weeks as that is the rate of supply then from week 12 we can only administer the second dose to people with no-one else getting their first shot for a further 12 weeks. Hopefully we will have more supply but the rate that first jabs are administered will still go down substantially during that period. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be key for younger age groups for sure.

its been the same from day one mate, airports, football matches, pop concerts, PPE 'the plane that went to turkey and brought back a load of defective PPE while PPE was in the UK and companys were trying to sell it to the government but they never responded, they didnt want to pay for it and wanted it on the cheap, it gives you little confidence, sadly i'm expecting over 2k a day becoming victim to this virus in little over a weeks time,nothing shocks me anymore its a total disgrace playing the smart politician on a mission for brownie points at the expense of peoples lives,utterly shambolic they want rounding up and putting behind bars

it depends on how the supply chain is following the 21m, if its on hand yes 24/7 and get it knocked out,sadly as in my other post im not holding my breath with this bunch of crooks,no surprise at all if supply dries up, i'm not getting excited untill the vax is in this country and enough of it to vax us twice now thats the best part of 110m dosses so we have a long way to go yet

I think many people would have just done xmas whether it was allowed or not.
