Sorry, where has the EU changed tack?
The Times yesterday reported both Germany and France are set to approve its use for all based on the new data

I would imagine if so that as key players that will change tack elsewhere in the EU too.

As you acknowledge, the decision is not the EU’s to take; it’s the decision of each Member State, some of which are already using it with people over 65.

According to the Mail today (I know!) the government scientists have told ministers that the success rate of both Pfizer and AZ in keeping people out of hospital is even better than they hoped based on the real world data seen so far. They put it at over 90% with AZ being slightly better than Pfizer but both more than the pre real world use during trials suggested. It also seems to be even more successful with those over 70 at doing thiis.

No wonder the EU are changing tack fast.
Science saves the day yet again..

Yes - sorry - I should have specified that I am meaning the EU as a group of nations not a political entity.

England hospital deaths - 149 - with 25 North West.

Always low on Sunday as weekend data but that is down from 258 last week. So big drop.

Though NW deaths up from 23 then.

See my post earlier referencing the Telegraph article today detailing how Germany is looking at extending the time between doses to 60 or 90 days. Article includes direct quotes from German health authorities. They are saying that doing this will save 10-15000 lives.

I’ve read it, but that has nothing to do with the EU, which is the point I was making. These are matters for each country.
Countries such as Germany are also having to wrestle with the fact that suppliers are consistently failing to meet their expected targets, so they know that they now have to use all available vaccines and all available strategies. They were late in learning that lesson.

Scotland data:

2 deaths - was 5 last week

572 cases - was 822 last week

3.8% positive - was 5.3% last week

837 patients - down 61 from yesterday - was 1132 last week

78 ventilated - up 4 on yesterday - was 99 last week.

Another good day all round it looks.
