It's the right decision but that presser was horrible.
Boris said the wrong date at first and looked drunk to me.
 
I can’t wait for cases to rocket. It means we are back to normal. Obsession with cases must end.

those who want to prolong lockdown are anti-vax. If it works why all your bull?

In order for this to become as big a problem for France as it is here, that very rapidly declining case rate in France has to turn around, then start doubling at UK rate, and do that faster than their vaccinations catch up with us (and they're currently vaccinating faster than we are).

What's the maximum case rate of delta that could be hiding beneath that steep overall French decline?

It seems likely that either the delta variant isn't rising as fast in French conditions, or the numbers there are currently still very low.

Are there any areas within France that like Bolton here was, are showing sudden unexpected rises? That would be what you'd expect if there was a hidden issue. I've no idea.

Go back to mid April on the UK cases matches French cases now. That was only 8 weeks ago...

The roll out does seem to be slowing down, don't know if that's supply problems, AZ not being used for younger people or uptake dropping

Either way it's not good new at all.

Just using Scotland as an example, they still have 66% of all vaccination programme still to do (adults only).

21% still require their first dose
45% still require their second

Realise the 21% is included in the latter figure, but in terms of the programme as a whole, most of it is still to be done. Can't be the reason for the slowing, and those projections.

his job is to control Covid deaths . Period. Come autumn he will be saying we need a full lockdown again because cold weather/ flu / people inside/ not everyone taken up the jab etc etc. His sole focus is Covid who can blame him for advising that. I would.

like I say if I was put in charge of stopping road deaths I would ban cars . Job done .

The crux of this is the scientists are advisers and nothing more. The government was caught with its pants down last year by failing to act and then they were too late to act over the winter. They are scared stiff of getting this wrong again.

You have to remember that it's different now though because the current roadmap was the brainchild of scientists who can't use the potential existence of variants as an excuse because the Kent variant was responsible for most deaths over the winter.

What they forget is that the NW was in lockdown from November to May, it cannot happen again here because people will just not accept it, how can they? The idea of locking down yet again for weeks and months on end is utterly depressing, it will be intolerable this time.

I'm not even going to mention the poor general mental health people are experiencing or the countless people dying of other causes who are not being treated and/or can't get face to face appointments.

Maybe they should just stop testing people? That'll sort the figures out anyway.....

well the youngsters aren't getting the more readily available AZ, and Pfizer wasn't apparently available at my vaccination centre last week, only Moderna.

well they are just fuelling the anti Vaxxers . All over 50s and vulnerable should be double jabbed now and those are the ones who are at risk of serious ill health or death ( I realise not entirely) yet the scientists and advisors seem to not believe in the strength of the vaccines and are very very keen to always fall back on social control measures just in case/ or cos they can.

oh the power!
 
Salford only got 3500 Pfizer vaccine doses this week, falling to 2200 next week..
