As many as necessary to make living a much safer experience for everyoneBut how many more years are we expected to live like this?
We'd be seeing 80%-90% less Covid ONLY cases and 70% folk who have at best only been partially vaxed (35% being unvaxxed loons and 35% partially vaxed people - the latter reducing as the vaccination programme reaches more people).Because the vaccine reduces the chances of being hospitalised by 90%. If EVERYONE was fully vaccinated then we wouldn’t be seeing 7,000 In Hospital clogging up the NHS, we’d be seeing closer to 700.
The government really don’t give a fuck if you’re diagnosed positive with covid and feel like shit for a week, they’d never consider a lockdown to prevent that. They lockdown because they don’t want hospitals to be overcrowded during their busiest period of the year.
How do people still not get this when we are two years into a pandemic?
Anti-vaxxers are wholly to blame for any new restrictions brought in. Hopefully they’ll be the ones that suffer the most from them (in terms of being unable to attend games/nights out etc etc).
It’s a shame that the NHS has a finite number of beds and that we do have to worry about the staff being overstretched as if everything else was equal, I’d just let the anti-vaxxers deal with the consequences of their own stupidity or refuse them NHS funded treatment for covid. Fuck em would be my advice.
LovelyDon't admit them to hospital.
Lock them in their house and let them die.
They no longer have any credibility - which is very sad as it just encourages Spaz and his mates.I presume they've outputted their usual shit work. Ie deaths could be between 10 and 10,000 a day and hospitalisations could be between 100 and 1,000,000 a day. Absolute useless
People are losing the plot. Madness.Lovely
And smokers? Drinkers? Do they have to pay for treatment? Wheres the line drawn?I've said this before but they need to start charging the antivaxxers for their hospitalisation unless they have a medical reason that is.
Thanks for that link.
People complaining about these latest restrictions ought to realise that they’re nowhere near as bad as what some other European countries have implemented. There are lockdowns in Austria and parts of Germany currently, plus they’ve made vaccinations mandatory. Also, remember that most of those restrictions were brought in before Omicron even became a thing, whereas ours have come about due to Omicron.

It’s like someone walking off the street into a random lecture theatre and arguing with the professor. Completely delusional.
I won’t be happy if we end up back in a full lockdown, but people need to realise that governments don’t take these decisions for shits and giggles though. It could also be argued that we went too far the other way by essentially removing all restrictions in July. I’m in Tenerife at the moment and mandatory mask-wearing is in place even on outdoor markets.People are rightly angry and concerned that this, again, is only the beginning.
I do not think they did. We’ve had pretty good numbers and a decent level of immunity since but this new variant is a big spanner in the works.I won’t be happy if we end up back in a full lockdown, but people need to realise that governments don’t take these decisions for shits and giggles though. Same asHad mine last Thursday, had 2 texts since from the NHS telling me that their records show I have not yet had it and can go and get one.
Wonder what the outcome would be if you were a bit docile and went for another booster a week later?
It only gets worse because of peoplePeople are rightly angry and concerned that this, again, is only the beginning.

Off to get my booster this morning. Go get yours. This morning I listened to an interview with the CEO of Pfizer Albert Bourla who has been interviewed by US TV.
He says that the results of lab tests with pseudoviruses (mimics of the real thing) show that the booster jab produces the same effect as that seen with a double jab of the initial virus. There will be lots of nuances but this is the message for the general public. Boosters will provide very good protection.
I will get my 3rd dose next week, and on the basis of what we are being told now, that 3rd dose will be very effective. So just get vaccinated.
This wave is could end this pandemic because the current Delta wave is being sustained by infection in unvaccinated groups. Anyone who has no exposure to Sars-Cov-2 will get infected.
What is unclear is whether the illness still presents the same way or whether it has changed. The evidence from SA is not clear because they are using evidence from younger people, and we know just how age-sensitive this virus is.
It's also unclear what effect the vaccine strategy is having on evolution of the virus.
