Coronavirus (2022) thread

I would much rather they are cautious , scientist are by nature , you have to listen to the likes of south africa but science is replicating results in different trials and conditions , you cant just take one opinion in a different country and assume it will be the same in other countries with loads of differences , that is science

But the problem with being ‘cautious’ is that the costs are enormous which is fine if you don’t have a business to ruin or livelihood to trash. Never mind the impact on education, metal health etc.

I don’t envy the politicians but I think they’ve got it just about right now

It’s so many months since there has been any substantial restrictions in England so it’s hard to assess the economic impact. Some of the businesses that have been impacted, particularly in the hospitality trade, wanted temporary lockdowns in the hope that they would get more Government aid. The restrictions didn’t come but many people, rightly or wrongly, took the decision to cancel Christmas parties etc. These punters damaged the businesses but maybe they felt they had little choice.

Think that was the case with nightclubs in Scotland, the original pre Christmas restrictions were going to cut their custom so much they needed the Scottish government to officially shut them so they could claim the financial packages. That's what happened.

Cheers, you keep repeating that line but it doesn't answer the question.

We both know ive more chance of winning the Euro lottery.
With COVID there's a strong chance you wouldn't die or anything but there's a completely unknown chance of complications such as long-COVID or worse so indeed without the vaccine you're taking far more chances.

With the vaccines you get the vaccine and you stand a 1 in 100,000's chance of becoming ill from the vaccine, that's lightning strike odds. If you're taking chances based upon those odds then I wouldn't go outside today if I was you.

Wanna start running as I've become increasingly lazy...only had covid at Xmas though. Is it safe to start now or is there a recommended time to wait for health reasons?

Must be getting close to isolation being scrapped completely?

I think I read March was the initial date but could be moved forwards hopefully.

Public confidence is a massive thing.

I've mentioned it before but I work in the live music and events sector - so we've been pretty much the worst hit industry throughout this.

Even with effectively little/no restrictions applying now and tours happening again, ticket sales are still way down across the board, and we're experiencing a trend towards customers buying very late (which makes sales forecasting extremely risky) and a lot of no-shows, which impacts venue bar sales etc.

There's not much the government can do about this and personally I just think it's a waiting game as everyone is a different stages of confidence/nervousness/mental health recovery.
