Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

I am not buying no players have tested positive in the last week, not buying it at all

If they say after the next round of testing there is only one of two then we are being had,no social distancing going on games as far as I can see

I have seen some players literally sweating, they must be positive.)

The players are tested before they arrive at the stadium. Even though they maybe given a clean bill of health to play. How do we know that the test that was just taken, wasn't a false negative test. Afterall the doctors say it could take anywhere from 2 days upto 14 days before any symptoms may show.

So if we say that there will be 200 people at any one match in total. That 1 player could infect anywhere up to 500 people over a 2 week period. Therefore you could be well on your way to a second spike of this virus.

Do you really believe that even if one player is infected, he's likely to come into contact with that many people, before he's tested again and found positive ?

I'm no great fan of football returning, but that has to be the most pessimistic possible scenario. I know someone that was in contact with Arteta before he tested positive, and plenty of others did on the same day, 3 were actually infected including the person I know (who had no symptoms from that contact).

Cleavers all I am saying is that that is possible. That is one possible way to get a second spike. They say up to 300 people max at any one game. This does not include media personnel.

So yes it could be possible for all of them to be infected by this patient zero. By passing it on to both his team mates and the opponents during the match. It would not take long to have a second spike of this virus, would it.

Seriously? Realistically? That is a real stretch of negative thinking.

David Ornstein in The Athletic today says an Arsenal player tested positive the week before they played us (and was in close contact with two others), but was cleared to play anyway.

Doesn’t come as any surprise, they wouldn’t have wanted the first big launch game of project restart to have any additional drama to be attached to it.

Fucking pathetic.

If that story is true the police need to investigate as they would any other breach of lockdown rules and whoever was responsible needs to be dealt with severely. If the breach was sanctioned at a high level in the football authorities or at the club then heads should roll. Unfortunately the whole Dominic Cummings farce has reduced public confidence in both the enforcement of the rules and the integrity of people in positions of authority in respect of the virus.
