Corruption in English football?

He mentioned in the same interview that he managed a horse racing syndicate 10 or 12 years ago, when he was still refereeing. I’m sure the powers that be were aware of it and didn’t have a problem with it.

I’m honestly struggling to see the connection between people employed in the football industry’s involvement in horse racing and corruption inside football.

Who else was in the syndicate?

Centre of attention seeking Mike Dean has certainly mastered keeping himself near the centre of attention since he retired.

There may or may not be corruption in English football. There’s lots of circumstantial evidence out there, along with stories like this one that “has to” prove Dean was corrupt.

It’s merely confirmation bias.

We’ll probably find out next that one of the horses was called Spot Kick Rag.
Interesting how they overturned the handball against Brentford yesterday which was IDENTICAL to
the Grealish Cup Final one.

Two things.

1. It wasn’t identical as the ball hit Mbewmo’s head before hitting his hand.

2. They changed the interpretation of the law in the off season, meaning the Grealish incident would no longer be a penalty.

Stumbled across this on Twitter.

Here we have a former PL referee essentially admitting that the LOTG are applied in a manner that protects the game. It's therefor a reasonable assumption to make that he's inferring that they want to keep it 'entertaining' for the good of the game.

And just imagine, if they can do that in a single game, there is no reason to think they don't apply the same logic to a competition, perhaps even the Premier League? After all, we can't have a single team running away with it now, can we? It's not the 90's. Got to keep the competition 'interesting, or else the PL might start losing TV revenue.

I've long said they are there to ensure, as best as possible, it's 11 v 11 in a televised game. Milner, dips v us at Anfield when he wasn't sent off is the best example. Sky want everyone watching the last 25 minutes where teams are going for the win.

Yes, totally agree. The game is only a spandex jumpsuit away from being wrestling.
TV are dictating the narrative of the season, and all the greedy hangers on are taking the till and spoiling the competition.
Just shows how good City actually have been to overcome the enormous drag factor of "levelling up" by the media and refs.
