Corruption in English football?

There’s no corruption in the premier league. If there was and it could be proved a journalist would have outed it. Not all journalists are pathetic and there are many who would break such a story.

I totally appreciate that the rags and Liverpool get the most decisions but it’s not down to corruption. It’s down to them being morally bankrupt and knowing when to go down. If there’s a touch they are down. I’m proud that we don’t do the same. It’s clear with VAR that if you get touched and go down you get it and it won’t be overturned. The red clubs are trained to collapse at the slightest touch, we are not and that’s why we get less decisions.

It was not widely reported at the time, but when Swansea played Bradford in the League Cup Final, a TV executive was quoted as saying “this will never be allowed to happen again, we cannot sell this anywhere”. For decades TV reported the news and broadcast sport. Then along came SKY, BT etc. where advertising revenues and subscriptions are god, and where controlling the news and the success of certain clubs with global appeal makes more money, and you get the potential for corruption. Chuck in self serving and greedy governing bodies in UEFA and the EPL, multiple American ‘franchise’ owners and the scene was set, they just needed the delivery mechanism = VAR, it is working perfectly for them.

We might benefit from this latest farce on Wednesday I expect rags will have negotiated a deal to sacrifice the league cup for a share of the EPL, if only to distract and undermine the case for the humble and fair amongst us

I think you give the cunts who are in charge of the rags far too much credit for a sense of morality.

It is clear that no matter what fans of other clubs think, those is charge are going to blatantly take whatever is on offer and stick two fingers to everybody else.

The United way !

Add into that the "raging fury" these American owned clubs have towards any other clubs who are owned by someone from outside of " their jurisdiction" and you can clearly smell the stench of badness/wrongness

It was a forlorn “might”. Need to up my game shouldn’t let my guard down.

Apologises to all Bluemooners.

No, no, no! It's NOT if you get a touch you go down and get a pen

If you go down with a touch,
you generally don't get it,
VAR (possibly) has a look,
and you still don't get it

If you go down regularly with a touch,
you still generally don't get it,
but now some bloke who presents "homes under the hammer" calls you a cheat for doing it,
all and sundry from Saint'n'Greavsy to GoodMorningBritain climb on board,
it becomes like "tactical fouling" and it gets more mentions than the possible cost of Cancello,
and you get a widespread reputation as a diver,

unless you play for Liverpool or United.

NO OTHER TEAMS.

It's all about what the ref gives BEFORE VAR gets a look in.

Some teams get the decision, VAR looks, agrees, and doesn't over-rule
Many teams don't get the decision, VAR looks, agrees, and doesn't over-rule.

THIS is the crux of the matter.

Two teams get a default YES (agreed with by not over-ruling)
Most others get a default NO (agreed with by not over-ruling)

Oh yeah, of course, silly me, it's just unintentional bias; decisions being swayed by the pressure situations created by the "11th man" baying crowds (oh, wait....), that's how so many home nations do so well in WorldCup tournaments too. Honest.

It's corrupt mate, it's been corrupt for a long time, and it's become even more corrupt since the huge money arrived.

You just have to realise what it took to expose the mp's expense scandal and scandal is putting it very, very lightly. 1000s of politicians of all persuasions kept very, very quite about it and kept stealing money from the public purse over years and years.

So a few 'rigged' football matches in favour of the some select teams should be relatively easy to keep quiet, especially with the incentive of some hush money.

Make no mistake, this is going on and unless you are in the select few you will be royally screwed.

Spot on.
I'd like to add spurs to the list though.
I'm not sure if they are training those collapses,
but they have the players like Mané, Salah, Kane, Martial and many more to mainly try to play for penalties when the slightest chance is around. Poor.
Of course we need better rules and rule interpretation and much better refs to recognize cheating. VAR included.

I’m not sure there’s a corruption as such, as in money changing hands but there’s 100% a biased for certain teams, 2 in particular.
Not only for the penalties they receive but the way their games are refereed as a whole.
You’ve only got to look at last nights game to see how many fouls utd got away with, only to have a few token bookings with minutes of the game remaining.
On the flip side of that is us, the “tactical fouls” we do every game apparently, players falling over all over the pitch leading to us getting 4+ bookings a game.
A team with 75%+ possession in most games and apparently commit the most fouls in a game.
Maybe cash is changing hands, maybe it’s the tv company’s pushing their darlings, whatever it is it fucking stinks!
It’s nothing new, it’s been happening for years but has become more obvious with the introduction of var.
In the past we’d say oh maybe the ref didn’t see it clearly or maybe he’s missed that, but with video replays there shouldn’t be these sort of decisions happening and when they do you have to ask why?
I don’t want referees favouring “the big teams/top 4”, all I want is an even playing field. Win or lose.
This also goes for the media, how many times have we had trial by media? Too fucking many.
Look at the Difference between the Bernardo (£43.5m) and Cavani posts, both the same charge, though one was hung out to dry, condemned and had every expert and pundit baying for blood, whereas the other hardly got a mention, apart from those defending him, lost in translation etc.
Referees need to start being accountable for their actions, that’d be a start, but until then nothing will change.
Rotten to the core.
