I did a ‘big shop’ at both Waitrose and Aldi – here’s who came out best for flavour

Two baskets of near-identical items cost £76.50 at Waitrose and £54.46 at Aldi – this is what happened when I tested them against each other

There isn't any as I've just mentioned in my post. I have tried some of their new expensive ranges when they've been yellow stickered and a lot have been garbage. That Japanese range of food in particular. It's just sheer snobbery to say Waitrose is better, it's not.

My Mrs used to shop Waitrose
Now she’s aldi/Lidl
I don’t notice the difference when it comes to dinners.

True, the big supermarkets are having to reduce prices as people's budgets shrink. The thing is in blind tests the cheaper brands often beat the well known ones. It shows you how well advertising works.

You're not going to convince me mate. I've tried both and have eaten well on ships so I know shit food from quality.

Well obviously that helps a lot. It's easier for me to shop at Waitrose as it's minutes walk away but I'd still shop at Aldi for certain products even if they cut prices. If I'm lazy I'll pay the extra and shop there but feel I've been mugged afterwards.
