Those who think Meppen Walter's career with City should be over if found guilty are being unfair, in my opinion. Everybody deserves a chance to learn from their mistakes. Jim Whitley served 15 months for being a get away driver in a robbery before he made a first team appearance. Franny Lee went to visit him in the young offenders institution.

Not when your mistakes have cost someone's life.

Luke McCormick was allowed back into professional football. If you've served your time and are remorseful, you should be able to continue your career.

Certainly isn't right to chastise people before all the facts are known , but two cars being driven by an 18 year old , and a 19 year old , are said to have been involved at the scene of a serious car crash doesn't look good .......

Police are also appealing to anyone who may have seen these two cars moments earlier on Trinity Way , would appear to suggest that this is beginning to look a bit like a 'boy racer' case that sadly went wrong.

This is an utterly stupid post. We have no idea what the circumstances were. A someone has said, charging someone is the standard procedure in cases like this. The Police will want to do a full investigation and asking for witnesses does not imply wrongdoing.

As it happens, I know that road very well and was on it at the time this happened, although about 2 miles away, not at the scene. It's very narrow, particularly on the side going out of Manchester and cars often park badly on that side. The other driver would have been turning right out of a side road and could have been at fault himself or could ave been an entirely innocent victim.

But we don't know so please avoid unhelpful speculation.

This as to happen as the Police only have so long to charge when held in Custody. Evidence will now be examined, this will then be presented to the CPS to see if they have a case if so a charge / or no charge will be given.

Some previous footballers sentences over the last 10 years:

Luke McCormick got 7 years 4 months for both drink driving and causing death by dangerous driving

Adam Chapman got 30 months in Young Offenders Institute for causing death by dangerous driving.

Lee Hughes got 6 years for causing death by dangerous driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

Obviously CMW has yet to go to court but looking at the above sentences he is looking at a few years inside if prosecuted and found guilty.

The Nissan was coming out of Sherborne Street, which is a side road, and turning right. That's a fact not conjecture. Who was in the wrong I don't know.
