This is getting stupid now , no fucker knows what they are supposed to be doing , great way to sow confused and in turn non compliance , a short national lockdown , no ifs and buts , finances continued , stop it spreading , that way we might have some leway for having dec 25 th , trouble is with millions travelling and mixing then it will escalate fast again but at least it would be from a lower base , another short lockdown in jan or feb and we might just make it to the spring and nearer a vaccine
The actual government definition is medium/high/very high which has somehow become tier 1, 2, 3 etc. Non-compliance is now rife, the rope has snapped and too many people are doing what they want, regardless of being in tier 1, 2 low/high/quite high etc. If we carry on as we are we'll be looking at April 8th type figures.

N Ireland 3 weeks ago v 2 weeks v last week v today

Deaths 1 v 4 v 5 v 9 today

Cases 828 v 1217 v 1039 v 840 today - suggesting the tighter restrictions are starting to work there.

Rolling 7 day total 4417 v 6693 v 6791 v 6255 today. Slow but falling case numbers.

Patients 58 v 164 v 289 v 352 today - again a clear slowing week to week.

Ventilators 8 v 17 v 32 v 37 today - also showing the same slowing down.

Northern Ireland circuit breaker seems to be showing very hopeful signs.

It's this decision to trial tier 1+ in bristol where you are not quite mediim bit not quite high that isnow more a mockery of whole system.

Make it simple and effective to understand, not up as you please daily

My old man wants to come over Saturday to watch the footie (he is tier 2) i'm tier 1 ... had to tell him he can't. felt a bit bad :(

Seriously if it's just you and your Dad and you are not mingling with different people every day, watch the game with him. Life is too short and you are clearly taking it serious and being risk averse so I really don't see an issue.

c/o Steve Wright (American comedian, not English DJ):
I love to go shopping. I love to freak out salespeople. They ask me if they can help me, and I say, "Have you got anything I'd like?" Then they ask me what size I need, and I say, "Extra medium."

The voice of reason.
Fuck me we've had so many rules, tiers, levels, traffic lights, bubbles, etc etc. I honestly havn't got a clue.
And I don't think the powers that be have either, which is not their fault, dealing with this from westminster must be a nightmare.
But communication must improve, i've said it before, Boris must start to assert his authority as our pm.
I'd have much more respect for him if he started bollocking fuckers that are fucking it up.

So the UK hospital deaths today are 248. The worst yet in the second wave.

Last week it was 141 - so it has risen dramatically in a week.

The all settings total from that 141 was 174.

Tier 3+ for Nottingham

Beauty salons in Nottinghamshire will have to close when the region is placed under England’s strictest lockdown restrictions from Friday.

Jason Zadrozny, the leader of Ashfield district council, said the county had been placed in “tier 3 plus” as nail parlours, tanning salons and tattoo parlours are forced to close as well as many pubs and bars.

He told the Guardian: “We’re effectively in tier 3 plus. The additions for us in Nottinghamshire on top of tier 3 are personal care things – sunbeds, nail parlours, beauty salons, tattoo parlours – on the recommendation of Public Health England because they think tier 3 wasn’t enough to dampen the curve across Nottinghamshire.”

Pubs and bars that cannot serve substantial meals will also have to close under the measures, it is understood, but hairdressers and barbershops will be allowed to remain open.

It had been thought that only the city of Nottingham and three other council areas would enter tier 3 this week, but rising infection rates mean this has been expanded to the whole of Nottinghamshire, a region of nearly 1.2 million people.

I feel sure they are both mixing with other people , it is this attitude that spreads it

I diont know why having your nails done at arms length with masks on is any worse than having your hair cut which is much closer, same as spray tan which is done at a distance

Total three nation cases (without England) this week are: 3456.

Last week it was 3740. Week before 3592. Week before 2634.

So slow progress but being 136 below two weeks ago is hopeful.

Good afternoon Kaz, so you are happy putting small cafes pubs shops in Cornwall out of business because of rising infection rates 300miles away? Professor Van Tam doesn't agree.

If its just you and him in the house, you both take precautions, sit apart, sanitise the beer glasses, maybe even mask up, not a problem mate.
Spend as much time with your dad as you can.
Hope you both enjoy the game

Have to say the places I have been since Greater Manchester was put into tier 3 have all been busier than they were in summer.

That includes the roads, supermarkets, town centres and parks. Went on a walk with the kids earlier, we also did the same walk just before school restarted. We were one of two cars in the car park last time, today we had to wait for a space to become free.

Thankfully the woods themselves are huge so no chance of bumping into more than a handful, and we needed to get out after a few days stuck inside already over half term, but won't really be going out again this half term with them I think.

A problem with saying you shouldn't travel outside your area is that more highly densely populated areas, like Greater Manchester, have to then accommodate more people in their town centres, woodland and park and thus more people think 'sod it, I'm actually being sensible here' and head outside the area anyway. Who's right, I have no idea. But if everyone and their dog is out and about anyway then it's trivial.

Cornwall, as i have said before, is very low so they do not need to be included, it mostly shuts down in winter and you could have a no going into cornwall except for work and emergencies , nothing about this makes mehappy , winter was always, as i also kept saying , going to be the worst time , protect life or we will be looking at a worse toll than before if over a flatter but longer time

If they mitigate the risk to near zero chance, I honestly think in this case it's justified hun. Time with your dad is precious. It's not like the're going on a march with no masks on.
Point taken though

thought i'd pop my head above the parapet as some might well find this of interest. a study into the methods that have been used to control the virus, a discussion as to how there is currently no evidence as to which ones work, which ones don't, and a suggested strategy as to how that evidence could be gathered to avoid imposing restrictions on the public which may potentially be only harmful

I spent a lot of time in March catching rays through the window till (maybe on here) someone said you can burnt by the sun through glass but not get Vitamin D through glass!
I'm not sure about that one mate, it's science. But yeah, i'll stick my neck out and say that vitamin d wont pass through glass. I'm probably wrong, it has been known lol
