COVID Data Thread

Zoe Report

Not planning to post regular Zoe data but will mention any significant shifts.

There are signs of one here now and it is a hopeful one.

The upward trend seems to have slowed. Indeed day to day increases in ongoing cases are going down from rises of over 9000 a few days ago, to today just 7800. So small numbers so far day to day and still rising but going in the right direction.

And the predicted daily cases slowed and flattened off at around 81,000 and has today gone down by 561 onto 80,485.

Early days, of course. And Omicron yet to be factored in.

Most regions are falling and North West on Zoe today is in tenth place with only North East - dropping like a stone - ahead of it in England and Scotland as the best still and on its lowest numbers in many weeks.

The three northernmost UK regions are top of the tree and there is a big gap now between NW and the rest above - including all southern regions like London and the others driving the cases right now - such as South East and East.

Northern Ireland and Wales are up top but East Midlands seems in most trouble at present just behind.

In GM pretty much all numbers are down bar Salford which has streaked up to almost 40,000 and the worst in the North West right now. Not clear why.

Stockport has fallen now every day for 3 weeks and is down on 5034 - one of the lowest numbers it has ever had on Zoe. BUT it is also now joined by a very fast falling Oldham (on 5696) and looking set to go top. And Bury also now sub 10K on 8950.

Everyone else is falling too - other than Salford - and Trafford is the only other one now just left over 20K on 20,762. Even Manchester has fallen big in the past 5 days onto 16,625.

JUST 8% (847 CASES) ARE OVER 60

BUT 65% (7457 CASES) ARE UNDER 40.

AND 39% ARE 19 AND UNDER.

THOUGH CASES ARE FLAT THE OLDER AGE NUMBERS ARE TUMBLING. ONLY THE BOOSTERS CAN EXPLAIN THAT SURELY

ENGLAND HOSPITAL DEATHS

ENGLAND HOSPITAL SUMMARY

PATIENT NUMBERS RISE ON A TUESDAY FOR FIRST TIME IN A MONTH - THOUGH NOT BY MUCH.

WEEK TO WEEK FALL LOWEST TOO.

BIGGEST RISE IN MIDLANDS AND YORKSHIRE. NORTH WEST UP BY JUST 4. BUT VENTILATIRS FELLL THERE SUB 100 AGAIN.

ADMISSIONS (SUNDAY) (always 48 hour behind on admissions - the rest of data is all from today)

607 SUN V 648 LAST WEEK TWO WEEKS AGO THE NUMBER WAS 678

SO ADMISSIONS STILL FALLING WEEK TO WEEK.

Regional admissions Today V Last Week were:-

London 106 V 86 (UP 20), Midlands 121 V 111 (UP 10), NE & Yorkshire 89 V 127 (DOWN 36) & North West 72 V 83 (DOWN 11)

North West and NE & Yorkshire clearly doing the best at present and Yorkshire really dropping here.

But London up a lot.

PATIENTS YESTERDAY / TODAY

6094 / 6123 Today - Risen by 29 on day

Last week's numbers were:

6424 / 6257 - DOWN by 167

Week before the numbers were:

6864 / 6623 - DOWN by 241

So the numbers were slowing and now starting to trend upward

Two weeks ago the weekly fall Tuesday to Tuesday was 7053 to 6623 - a fall of 430

Last week the same day to day fall was 6623 to 6257 - A FALL OF 366

This week the same day to day fall is 6257 to 6123 - A FALL OF 134

THE TRACK IS CLEARLY DOWNWARD

REGIONALLY DAY TO DAY:-

London DOWN 4 to 1095, Midlands UP 38 to 1196, NE & Yorks UP 32 to 1091 & NW UP 4 to 838

So London down and NW up by the same small number and the rise today mostly down to Midlands and Yorkshire

Week to week London (DOWN 61), Midlands (UP 2), NE & Yorkshire (DOWN 71), East (DOWN 48), South East (DOWN 11) , South West (DOWN 14) and North West (DOWN 53) over the last 7 days.

SO WEEK TO WEEK NORTH WEST FELL AND ONLY MIDLANDS - JUST - DID NOT.

VENTILATORS DAY TO DAY

The numbers were:

793/ 806 - UP 13

Last week the numbers were:-

785 / 780 - DOWN 5

Two weekends ago the numbers were:-

821 / 796 - DOWN 25

Obviously not a good track here week to week either

So week to week today ventilators are UP by 26

The previous week to week was DOWN by 16

REGIONALLY London has 185 (UP 6), Midlands 169 (UP 13), NE & Yorkshire 137 (UP 7) & North West 98 (DOWN 8)

North West easily had the best day - falling a lot as the others were all up a lot

NORTH WEST THOUGH IS UP WEEK TO WEEK BY 5 FROM 93 TO 98.

UK numbers:

ALL SETTINGS DEATHS

159 - was 165 last week

England only 143 - was 140 last week. Only 4 extra to the hospital number of 139 today here.

CASES

39,716 - down 2837 from 42,553 yesterday & by 2768 from 42,484 last Tuesday

In England only

33,590 - down 1316 on yesterday & by 2960 from 36,550 last Tuesday (Wales was two days of data yesterday and just one today as always Mon/Tue hence what looks like an odd difference in todays fall).

Curiously ITV news just described today's numbers here as UP on last week.

GM AND NORTH WEST SUMMARY

North West is actually UP on yesterday by 138 ON 3569.

However, the southern regions are again ahead:-

South East way in front and UP 276 ON 7533 -more than double the North West & easily driving these case numbers for the past two or three weeks

London on 4654 is 1000 ahead of NW still and South West on 4071 & East on 4031 also ahead of the NW by 500 or so.

The other Midlands and Northern regions all sub 3000

Week to week North West is DOWN by 270 from 3839.

In Greater Manchester cases are 1298 - UP 66 on yesterday - which is from that 138 NW rise. Not far off par.

And week to week GM cases are DOWN by 241 from 1539 last Tuesday.

That is most of the 270 fall in the NW so obviously a good day here in this more important figure.

IN GM

Only Wigan topped 200 on 203 - up 32 week to week

Manchester on 188 had the biggest weekly drop - down 75

Stockport finally lived up to the Zoe numbers it has been getting scoring 120 - down week to week by 64.

Only Bury was below 100 on 82 - down 19 week to week

The others - neighbours Oldham & Rochdale had exactly 100 cases each - Oldham up 14 week to week and Rochdale down 21.

Bolton had a good day too on 114 - down 33 week to week.

Tameside and Trafford also shared a score (130 cases each) - with week to week Tameside up 10 but Trafford down 55

Salford on 131 also had a good weekly fall of 30.

So all in all a pretty good day for the ten boroughs.
