COVID Data Thread

I posted this in the other thread too but is data related so probably fits here more.

Latest Excess death figures from SA ( and last of the year )

Weeks ending.
14th Nov 500 or so
21st Nov 1000 or so.
28th Nov 2000 or so.
5th Dec 2500 or so.
12th Dec 2700 or so.

12th Dec's figures are basically the very start of the big wave + 2 weeks. while obviously not good in terms of people dying its really promising in data terms as there doesn't seem to be any significant growth.

Definitely slowing in London although I’d imagine 100,000 cases will be all that’s reported!
Not sure. That is by far the biggest rise in London over the past week - highest number yet and up 7308 on yesterday.

From 20,491 to 27,799

About a one third increase.

It was flattening but we will have to see where it goes from here.

If the hospitalisations don’t follow then the obsession about case numbers needs to stop.

Of course it’s the top story on BBC…

So how does this differ from this time last year as the weather and natural seasonal illnesses will account for a large %

ENGLAND HOSPITAL DATA PATIENTS

7080 - up 178 - last Wednesday it FELL by 76 to 6358.

No question these have turned now

London up 132 of that 178 - to top 2000 on 2036 for first time in months.

This is up 664 on last week. A rise of about 50%.

East was flat on 630, South East fell today by 27 to 830 and South West fell by 20 to 491.

Midlands only up 9 to 1256 and Yorkshire up 10 to 854.

North West had the second biggest rise after London - UP 74 to 983. A weekly rise of 127.

No question that the two areas with the highest cases are seeing rises in patients and North West will almost ceertainly escalate if its cases go anywhere near the 27K in London. But it is only around 11K so far.

Which is pretty consistant with the cases v patient rise of London.

27,000 cases = 132 added patients today (I know the cases today are NOT directly linked to the patient rise today there will be a lag but it is a rough guide).

That is around 0.5% hospitalised. On this very rough sum.

North West is 11,000 cases = 74 added - around 0.7%

Not remotely statistically true but a very rough sign of how these numbers equate. It is a small number.

ENGLAND VENTILATED PATIENTS

745 - down 12 on yesterday. Was 786 last week

London down 3 to 198, North West stays at 86.

Others East down 7 to 81, Midlands down 8 to 132, NE & Yorkshire up 6 to 103.

South East stays at 93 and South West stays at 52

There were far more patients in hospital this time last year as we had no vaccines (first few were started just days before) and London and the south was in the thick of a wave then too.

21,488 in hospital in UK v around 8000 now.

1529 on ventilators V around 800 now.

301 London ’admissions’ made up of 227 from the community and 74 already in hospital. There have been over 70 covid outbreaks in hospitals this week as well, so the numbers will be skewed by high incidence.

LONDON UP from 20,491 TO 27,799. Was 19,294 last week.

SOUTH EAST UP from 13,753 TO 16,680. Was 12,023 last week

EAST UP from 9916 TO 12,546. Was 8008 last week.

NORTH WEST UP from 8481 TO 10,960. Was 7623 last week

Others:

West Midlands UP from 6416 TO 6924. Was 5668 last week.

East Midlands UP from 6368 TO 6668. Was 4854 last week.

South West DOWN from 6302 TO 6051. Was 4860 last week.

Yorkshire DOWN from 4654 TO 4328. Was 3564 last week.

North East DOWN from 2322 TO 2276. Was 1760 last week.

GREATER MANCHESTER 4587. Out of the 10,960 North West.

GM is 41.9% of the North West today. Down from over 44 and 50% over the last two days -so signs that GM are settling perhaps.
