WALES DATA

Very close again wk to wk - so no obvious sign of Omicron multiplying as yet at least

7 deaths - was 7 last week

2067 cases - was 2154 last week

11.9% positivity - was 12% last week

481 patients - was 476 last week

47 ventilated - was 54 last week

ENGLAND HOSPITAL DEATHS

Deaths still falling week to week which is very good news going into mid winter and down to the boosters and the age of the cases being younger than ever

102 with 21 North West

Was 116 with 29 NW last week & 131 with 24 NW the week before

By Region:

East 9, London 10, Midlands 23, NE & Yorkshire 13, North West 21, South East 15, South West 11

Most in any trust 8 in Sussex

North West Trusts:

6 in Pennine Acute (Oldham/Rochdale). 4 in St Helens, 3 each in Chester & East Lancashire, 2 in Manchester AND 1 each in East Cheshire, Morecambe & Stockport

By age:

20 - 39 (2), 40 - 59 (14), 60 - 79 (39), 80 PLUS (47)

With one day to go it looks like the total deaths for the past 7 days will be just above where they were last week (475) - currently with a day to go on exactly the same with just a handful to add tomorrow (likely to be single figures).

This is way down on two weeks ago (589) and three weeks ago (669) AND last week's number was artificially low because an entire days data was never reported as the NHS lost the IT numbers - so I estimate last week it was really nearer 550 minimum - so this week will almost certainly be well down on that and the third successive weekly fall - which is impressive given the cases we have been piling up but not surprising given the age ranges of those catching it.

Thing with exponential growth is that under a high baseline you won't notice it at all until it suddenly explodes.

If its under there doubling every week, it'll be totally invisible in the noise until it reaches low hundreds, then within another couple of weeks it'll be pretty much dominant.

TODAYS ZOE MAP OF THE NORTH WEST. DARK RED IS THE UPPER WATCH ZONE (OVER 10K PER BOROUGH), PINK IS THE LOWER WATCH ZONE (UNDER 10K) AND THE VERY LIGHT PINK IS BELOW 5K - THE LOWEST OF ALL.

THE BLUE AROUND EAST LANCASHIRE (BLACKBURN/BURNLEY) MEANS THEY HAVE NOT ENOUGH DATA TO CALCULATE AS TOO FEW THERE USE THE APP - THIS IS ALSO AND LONG HAS BEEN - THE WORST AREA IN THE REGION FOR HIGH CASES - IT IS WHERE DELTA FIRST LANDED - INDEED BLACKBURN ON 21,702 & BURNLEY 20,428 ARE TWO HIGHEST POP SCORES ACROSS THE PANDEMIC IN THE UK.PUTTING ROCHDALE YESTERDAY AS GREATER MANCHESTER LEADER ENTERING THE 19,000s INTO PERSPECTIVE

BUT ALSO SHOWING WHY BOLTON,BURY AND ROCHDALE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS - AS THESE BORDER THE HUGE PROBLEMS EAST LANCASHIRE HAS CREATED (9 OF TODAY'S 21 NW DEATHS WERE IN THIS BROADER AREA)

YOU ALSO SEE THE SAME EFFECT IN THE VERY LIGHT PINK AREAS - THE LOWEST NUMBERS ON ZOE IN THE NORTH WEST

HERE OLDHAM AND STOCKPORT ARE THE TWO GM BOROUGHS (WITH TAMESIDE INBETWEEN AND NOT FAR AHEAD AROUND 10K) TO THEIR RIGHT ARE HIGH PEAK (BUXTON etc) AND ON ITS SOUTHERN BORDER STAFFORDSHIRE MOORLANDS. ALL SHARING THE LOW NUMBERS UNDER 5K

WHERE YOU LIVE AND WHO LIVES IN THE AREAS SURROUNDING YOU MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE TO CASE RATES VIA INTERMINGLING AND SPREAD AS YOU CAN SEE

ENGLAND HOSPITAL SUMMARY

BIG FALLS TODAY - MORE THAMN EXPECTED - MAKING UP FOR A BAD TUESDAY

ADMISSIONS (<ONDAY) (always 48 hour behind on admissions - the rest of data is all from today)

669 MON V 602 LAST WEEK TWO WEEKS AGO THE NUMBER WAS 695

SO ADMISSIONS ROSE WEEK TO WEEK - BUT THAT WAS EXPECTED GIVEN THE BIG PATIENT RISE ON MONDAY

Regional admissions Today V Last Week were:-

London 101 V 73 (UP 28), Midlands 126 V 123 (UP 3), NE & Yorkshire 100 V 89 (UP 11) & North West 76 V 84 (UP 8)

But London up the most.

PATIENTS YESTERDAY / TODAY

6123 / 5829 Today - DOWN by 294 on day - unexpectedly large drop

Last week's numbers were:

6257 / 6062 - DOWN by 195

Week before the numbers were:

6623 / 6412 - DOWN by 211

So the numbers were better than the last two weeks

Two weeks ago the weekly fall Wednesday to Wednesday was 6961 to 6412 - A FALL OF 549

Last week the same day to day fall is 6412 to 6062 - A FALL OF 350

THE TRACK IS CLEARLY DOWNWARD WEEK TO WEEK BUT STILL FALLING

REGIONALLY DAY TO DAY:-

London DOWN 21 to 1074, Midlands DOWN 104 to 1092, NE & Yorks DOWN 122 to 969 & NW DOWN 36 to 802

So huge falls in the Midlands and Yorkshire.

Week to week London (UP 62), Midlands (DOWN 73), NE & Yorkshire (DOWN 134), East (DOWN 16), South East (UP 9) , South West (DOWN 7) and North West (DOWN 74) over the last 7 days.

SO WEEK TO WEEK NORTH WEST FELL BUT LONDON AND SOUTH EAST UP - NE & YORKS FELL MOST

VENTILATORS DAY TO DAY

The numbers were:

806 / 773 - DOWN 33

Last week the numbers were:-

780 / 783 - UP 3

Two weekends ago the numbers were:-

796/ 792 - DOWN 4

Obviously best week of the three

So week to week today ventilators are DOWN 10

The previous week to week was DOWN by 9

REGIONALLY London has 183 (DOWN 2), Midlands 150 (DOWN 19), NE & Yorkshire 124 (DOWN 13) & North West 94 (DOWN 4)

Everybody down but some smaller regions up - East and South West

NORTH WEST IS DOWN WEEK TO WEEK BY 2 FROM 96 TO 94.

Others:- EAST 85 TO 83, LONDON 173 TO 183, MIDLANDS 153 TO 150, NE & YORKS 123 TO 124, SOUTH EAST 91 TO 88, SOUTH WEST 62 TO 51

BIG RISE IN CASES TODAY AND DEATHS UP VIA OUT OF HOSPITAL ADD ONS

171 all settings deaths - was 149 last week

England only:-

141 - was 129 last week (39 out of hospital today added)

Cases 48, 374 cases - UP 8658 on yesterday

And UP 4698 on last Wednesday.

England only:-

41,519 - UP 7929 on yesterday & 5008 on last week

North West was only up today by 138 of that 7929 daily England rise.

As you can see NOT the problem area today.

Indeed it was DOWN by 333 of the otherwise 5008 weekly rise.

The cases are going up elsewhere so far not the North West.

Though Stockport after a good day yeserday was not playing ball today as it was the top scorer in GM for first time in weeks ahead of Manchester - on 227 - up a whopping 107 on the day almost the entire North West increase and more than the entire GM increase day to day as most places fell!!!

This in what Zoe says is the second lowest scoring borough in the North West.

Baffling.

The case numbers are remarkable. Throughout the whole pandemic I don't think a single country has had anything like such a consistently high caseload at such a steady level.

We've had 40,000 a day pretty consistently since July.
