Covid: Personal views

Out of interest what would be the trigger point for you to feel assured that it is safe I.e Johnson and Vallance being vaccinated on prime time?

I think the PM/CMOs have a really important job to do here in the coming month in leading from the front in clearly explaining the benefits of the vaccine and the safety tests that have been undertaken to date.
At the moment I personally would want a full understanding of the anticipated side effects, details as to whom might not be suitable and why, how a vaccine that normally takes years to develop, can be brought to the public in just 12 months.

Also like to see a good percentage of public figures taking it too.

Finally, no adversity from those having taken it, say over a period of a few weeks.

Well I'm sorry, but I think you knew what I meant.
Lets go back to the start. You said that not taking the vaccine first time round was a common sense approach. I asked you what would happen if everyone followed your common sense approach. Ie we would clearly have no one taking the vaccine first time round. You replied the take up of the vaccine would be bigger. If ive missed something please can you explain, as I am sorry but I just dont follow your logic.

We've been there and I have explained.

A very brave man Mr Hartford and I doff of my cap to you. Not vaccine related but I remember the furor behind the elephant man trials back in 2006.

I had one trial stopped after a couple of days, some of the others , (there were always 12) , got ill. They stopped giving us the drug, paid up the 3 grand, and sent us home.
My view was, to always believe I was getting the placebo.
Ps
I do have a strange twitch nowadays)

Don't think it matters whether I want it or not. By the time they have vaccinated the over 60s, others with health conditions, front line NHS and care workers the job lot of vaccines will have run out.

I'll be in the second round, by which time at least we will have a better understanding of success rates and side effects.

As someone who if I recall is finding this whole thing difficult, I find it strange that you would be so concerned about the incredibly small risk of side effects from this. Whatever that risk is it is going to be a far less risk than getting Covid....at any age.

Sometimes due to previous experience and developments science is able to increase its pace significantly in all kinds of fields including medicine. Given the right circumstances often war or catastrophe and the right financial backing things can happen very quickly indeed. In this case much of what has gone one has been able to be accelerated as it is something that has been done many times before..ie create a vaccine only this one is for a new illness.

This jab will offer you and everyone else a way out of this nightmare. It is infact the only way out, always has been always will be, track and trace and testing are like using Whitleys and Wellingtons to bomb Berlin in World war two, by and large a complete waste of time, only when the Lancaster came along were we fit for the job.

This time its not Lancasters and Spitfires getting us out of the shit, its syringes and needles, I would strongly suggest you consider very carefully having one as soon as you are offered the chance.

The line about how it can be brought to the public in 12 months is getting so tired and drawn out. The information is out there, go look it up if you have concern. Money and willingness to all pull in the same direction are what greases these wheels, not time. Typically you have to work to other peoples' timetables, that isn't the case here.

This is exactly what a clinical trial is.
